Apparently it has no real character development or story.
They always assume everybody watches movies for some immersive story.

I know...-__- Yes we know it probably won't win any big awards but hey theres badass aliens from the sky and big military action whats there not to enjoy. :([QUOTE="Dylan_11"]Ugh... Now I regret making plans to see it tomorrow.Wasdie
You're going to let a bunch of critics ruin a movie for you?
thats why we should have like a peoples choice awards where every1 around the world votes on any movie they want to win itIt probably won't be that great, but I'm going to see it anyways. It's the type of movie I'm generally attracted to.

All of them are hating on it because it's pretty much a pure action movie.
Bascially, it's a great popcorn flick. One I'll be seeing.
Yea I'll probably be watching it too. It's down to 29%, if it get's under 20, Iprobably won't watch it.
You all should be thankful that New York isn't being destroyed for the thousandth time lol. I don't care to much about reviews for the movie. I just want to be entertained for awhile. I will be leaving my brain at home and enjoy all the Micheal Bay inspired explosions.

I thought the same about Skyline... should have listened to the critics. This one's far too similar to Skyline (including the score) for me to buy into the same thing again. Fool me once...I have been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for a movie like battle los angeles. with any other sci-fi alien invasion movie, its always the air force or somebody going up against the aliens. its never infantry. if they do show the infantry fighting the aliens, its always from the POV of a civilian watching the fight. Since this movie is basically black hawk down with aliens, i will be finally satisfied.
also, it might be the closest thing we will ever get to a halo movie
To be honest I have been wating for a movie with an alien invasionfocusedon the military. I usually like movies that actually put thought into their stories and not rely on CGI and action, but for some reason I want this movie to be a crazy explosions every where war type of movie. Im tired of all of these civilian focused invasion movies. I just want to see some cool action for once.
Young men: If you attend this crap with friends who admire it, tactfully inform them they are idiots. Young women: If your date likes this movie, tell him you've been thinking it over, and you think you should consider spending some time apart.RogerEbert:lol:

Dear God, please destroy the theater before 7 p.m. tonight. Thank you.
Im seeing it tomorrow. I don't let reviews decide if im going to see a movie or not. If the movie looks apealing to me then I will go see it. Even if it gets a -50% on some website.

I actually trust Roger Ebert's reviews.
He liked several movies that were panned by several other "Top Critics".
That fact that Ebert gave this movie a half-star is pretty telling.

Yep! You beat me to it, but Ebert is a great critic.
Wow, I was going to see this too after I heard Kel from Keenan and Kel was in his, but the whole half-star thing is making me think twice...
It looks amazing.
For all you yelling "skyline 2011" you should know that Skyline was made by the team that did the CGI for Battle Los Angeles. They blatently ripped off the idea and pushed out a movie in half the time it took the make this.
Have some faith. This one actually looks good not just "we are some teens going to defend the world!!"
Wasdie
I'd just like to point out that Skyline is a zombie movie, except that it has aliens instead of zombies. Think about it.
For all its failings, it had a heart, a good concept and one absolutely brilliant scene (with the bomber). I also liked the ending.
Sometimes I wonder if I have bad taste or an open mind. I think Ebert poking fun at alien motives and designs for BLA is pretty dumb. IMO anything is permitted when you're dealing with aliens. We don't have to understand their motives or the way they work.
As Michael Crichton said, a single breath of an alien can release a toxin that destroys chlorophyll - and thus most life on earth. An alien may not know the concept of death. It can exist in multiple dimensions and we're only seeing a part of the creature, and so on.
Lol, no one destroys a movie better than Roger Ebert. He's the best:
"Here's a science-fiction film that's an insult to the words "science" and "fiction," and the hyphen in between them. You want to cut it up to clean under your fingernails."
"The aliens are hilarious. Do they give Razzies for special effects? They seem to be animal/machine hybrids with automatic weapons growing from their arms, which must make it hard to change the baby."
"The dialogue consists almost entirely of terse screams: Watch it! Incoming! Move! Look out! Fire! Move!"
"You gotta see the alien battleships in this movie. They seem to have been assembled by the proverbial tornado blowing through a junkyard."
"Young men: If you attend this crap with friends who admire it, tactfully inform them they are idiots. Young women: If your date likes this movie, tell him you've been thinking it over, and you think you should consider spending some time apart. "
Ouch.
The again anyone who listens to what Roger Ebert says is a moron and should set on fire and sent to hell. This man doesn't know what he is talking about have the time. I can still remember him giving Die Hard 2 Stars while he gave a crap storm like Knowing 4 Stars. So if you go by what Ebert says them you are stupid and probably need people to make choices for yourself. I saw Battle: Los Angeles and can describe it as mix of Black Hawk Down but with aliens instead of Somalians

Saw the movie last night. Definitely delivers on the action front, but anytime the characters open their mouths to speak....Oh, the horror.....It's basically one big commercial to join the marines and literally leaves no cliche unturned. If you just watch it for the action scenes and completely ignore the fact that you are supposed to care about these people, then there is fun to be had
lolmoviecritics. Let's face it, if it's not in the drama/family genre, todays critics aren't going to like it. I think the only genre they hate more than action is comedy.[QUOTE="sergemyster8"]

One can go on Rotten Tomatoes right now and find a buttload of science fiction and action movies that have been well-received by professional critics. One can also find a buttload of "drama/family" movies that the critics generally hated.
me too. it sounds so stupid but it has so many of my favorite actors.I'm holding out for COwboys vs. Aliens tbh.
