Am I the only one here who's not into social networking? (facebook,twitter,etc.)

Seems that everyone who's in the internet these days has a facebook account. Am I the only one who hasn't have one? I searched my classmates from 3 schools, and I could see everyone there. I was the only one who's not.

I go to the internet to get news on new games visit gamespot,read wikipedia pages about history, post youtube videos of me trying to making music. that's all.. ;D

I kid, yeah social networking is a little blown out and silly in some instances (Twitter...) but it sure beats the hell out of MSN messenger. Personally, I think that every one, no matter how it might seem isn't always updating their profile and checking out their friends pics. There's actually a really negative effect on people who constantly stalk their friends posts.

I know this girl who every time I see her post I get the most bitter feeling in the back of my throat and then I just sit there and wonder what's up with me? It's ok to use a social network, just don't make a big deal out of it or the people on it.

I use it to talk to real life friends and only real life friends. Nothing else.

A lot of my friends don't have them. Personally, I use it as somewhat of a journal. Everytime something happens that I find significant to my life, Facebook. Everytime I find a new band I like, Facebook. I even post stuff like, "Finally defeated Botos!", or, "Always nice to start the morning with bouts of vomiting". One of those things I will love to look back at 20 years from now.

Only ICQ, Usenet and IRC are real. Everything else is for poseurs!

I used to go on myspace to find new music but then I subscribed to satellite radio so there was no reason for me to go there anymore. There are also more private ways to find new music these days too such as youtube. A lot of people use twitter these days to talk about things on a more exposed network and I read it sometimes if it's something worth reading, but I will probably never get an account there. Privacy is a big deal for me and I prefer to stay as anonymous as I can manage to be. All in all the only problem I have with anonymity on the internet is tracking cookies that refuse to accept an opt-out request, such as google. That's why I use bing through hotspotshield instead. Unfortunately google is linked to captcha and other things so I can't just block them on my noscript but I do a good job of booting the tracking cookies with outpost security suite. But I will probably never use social networking in the future. Actually I can pretty much guarantee that I won't.

I find FaceBook very useful to ask friends about next day's homework.

Tbh, I don't like the whole idea of social networking - documenting your every thought and trying to make yourself seem smart and cool and whatever in front of people just isn't my style. Believe me when I say that if you don't social network you will be out of the loop though.

Problem is I love this place which is pretty much a mixture of facebook, twitter, and forums, but for gamers, who are probably conformist :P

I use a messenger to keep in touch with my friends in other states and that's about it. Otherwise I just call them on the phone, or email them.

I could care less about the other sites. One of the guys I work with has over 400 Facebook friends. Of those he probably only knows around 10% of them (his words, not mine). What's the point?

If you find value in social networking...cool...I just don't. I really don't care that Kara is at the grocery store trying to decide between low fat yogurts at this moment, or that Tom has been flagged at the Wing House or whatever...lol.

People don't know the 300-600 "friends" on facebook than they do anyone on here.

Right. But I'd reckon the majority of kiddos on facebook, with their hundreds of friends don't really know more than 10-15 of them that they actually really know.

I use Facebook. It is almost a necessity now. I don't mess around with Twitter or anyhting else though. One social netwokring site is enough for me.
