I have to say that Belgium was clearly the better team today, and really deserved that win. Also, I get 2 points for predicting the score right ^^

I agree. Was rooting for the US, but the better team won. Belgium just played a better game and certainly deserved the win. Despite that, the US still had their chances.

Americans will now lose interest in the World Cup and be interested in football the next world cup again

I hope you are joking because this is factually incorrect.

This World Cup has done records already in the US for games when the US isn't involved and games when they are in involved eclipsed this year's NBA Finals. Ratings still aren't in for last night's games but I can already see that breaking the record set by the last two group games. Football is slowly growing in the States and NBC's coverage of the Premier League last year has brought in steady viewers and will only continue to rise next season. The MLS is also expanding rapidly with new franchises opening up like NYC FC that is being backed by Manchester City's oil sheiks.

Americans will watch until the end just like any other country.

I agree with Aljosa. Soccer has been steadily gaining popularity in the US. MLS attendance and popularity has been rising steadily. It's franchises are far more stable and financially well off then many NHL and even some NBA teams. EPL games are now readily televised in the US and the UEFA champioships are televised and getting fairly good ratings. It takes time, but it's definitely growing and becoming especially popular with the younger generations in the US.

Emotionally speaking ,I would want one the low-profile teams to win the cup, i.e. Colombia ,Costa Rica or Belgium -and of course Chile and Mexico who were just as deserving if not more so- but logically thinking ,I believe a nuke is required to terminate Germany.

I too will watch the World Cup til it's finished. I also want to see if a European team will win the World Cup in South American soil. Hasn't happened yet.

Awesome how open it is this year, there's not a big team that i don't think has a mistake in them. Germany look iffy every now and then, I could see Brazil being nullified vs a tactically stronger team, Holland are lacking at the back and will struggle if they can't play off the counter, Argentina have had issues getting past a few sides. I think France could be a dark horse, they haven't had the expectation or off field antics of previous years.

What about Colombia? They look really great in just about every area (striker is a little iffy though).

Brazil is dominating so far. Colombia needs to step it up in the second half.

@Desmonic: Beautiful women need more screen time in the World Cup. ;)

If Neymar is absent from that match as well due to injury then Germany will have a clear advantage. Him and Silva the brazilian team's leaders.

Oh! Snap! No more Neymar (for the semi-final, final or 3rd place match) and no Thiago Silva (for the semi-final)? Damn. Brasil is almost KO already...

Right now, that semi-final is Germany's to lose. Of course Brasil can still win (they still have a bunch of talented players that can make a difference) but the odd's aren't that great right now.

I think they impressed against a France that has been nothing but impressive so far. So a Brazil without those two stars are really weakened.
