Wii for christmas?

hi i was considering getting a wii for christmas, im right now very unsure cos i played with my cousins and a friend on theirs and it was fun playing with friends but what about online games? are there any and if so how are they? right now i have a ps3 and i was wondering how much different would gameplay be? what got me thinking about the wii was seeing all those zombie shooter games in the store are they honestly like the arcades? also what would be good first games to get?

good first games would be Super Mario Galaxy and Zelda Twilight Princess, as they are the main reasons a lot of people own a Wii.

Games like Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart.Wii are good starter games.

online games i know:

nba 2k10(even has wii speak support)....nhl2k10 has online also
smash bros brawl (you can see when your friends are online on this)
animal crossing (has wiispeak) only with friends
tmnt smash-up same as brawl
mario kart(always got someone online)
call of duty games

so online is barebones... you wont be able to meet new people and stuff...just play them.

with family: mario kart, wii sports, wii sports resort, wiiplay.

core games: metroid, galaxy, zelda twilight princess(i prefer this on gamecube)

i dont have any of those rail shooters you mention but its...dead space extraction,redient evil umbrella chronicles, house the dead. you can buy a wii gun peripheral also if you like called wii zapper.

Mario Kart Wii is probably the best game the Wii has to offer in the online department. But really, most of the Wii's best games are more for local play, like Super Smash Bros. That game has great local play, but it's wifi is aweful. Its really a mixed bag with the Wii's wifi.

Other games I have for the Wii with Wifi-

DBZ Tenkaichi 3- I can't get a single game.

Mario Strikers - Decent Wifi, occasionally lags. Good leaderboards.

The Conduit - Average.

It varies.

I say stick with PS3 for your online cravings. cause the wii Falls flat on its face with its mediocre-at-best online offerings. I owned both 360/PS3 and I still got a wii and I'm loving it. I know it's not a technical powerhouse compared to the other two but it is still fun to play. Plus their are a lot of really good games you'll only be able to play on the system(such as Mario and Zelda). I would recommend:

A PS3 and a Wii are nothing alike. It's like comparing the PS3 to the DS. But that's a good thing, it means you get variety out of the two.
