Why does it take so long for Pokemon games to release overseas?

I've noticed that there is a 6-7 month gap between the Japanese release and the U.S. release. Surely it doen't take this long to translate Japanese text now does it?

it's not just simple translation..but localizing some of the more obscure parts of the story along with changing some dialouge if neccessary..On top of renaming/localizing the pokemon names and names of trainers and the like..it takes abit of work for all that to happen..

the boxart, manual, making sure there isnt any plot-holes in the story,copy-right things plus all of that crap the guy above me stated. it takes a while to make a game american lol.

6-7 months is a relatively short time for something to be translated. Most manga, anime, and games take at least a year. And I have no idea what they do. There's not that much to translate, and the quality of the translations is usually so poor it looks like it was written by a third-grader.

Localizing normally takes quite a while.
