I'd like a new 3D platformer set in the Mushroom Kingdom. They could still have a few crazy gravity levels like in Galaxy, but I think it'd be cool if they went for a Super Mario 64 style hub world with a huge new Peach's Castle to explore and bring back jumping into paintings to get to the new worlds. That's the one thing I missed from Galaxy - the large, free-roam levels where you can do whatever you want and find stars at your own pace. Some of the levels felt a bit too linear, just going from point A to point B got old after a while. That, or a new Paper Mario RPG similar to the N64 and Cube versions. Super Paper Mario was a step in the wrong direction as far as I'm concerned. That series needs to go back to its roots.
Definitely a new platformer, but NOT a direct Galaxy sequel. I'd like to see the platform games move back to the Mushroom Kingdom and Peach's Castle as it was in SM64. I wouldn't want a 2.5D Mario on the Wii; it should be left on the DS, though I wasn't really a fan of NSMB. Reggie has already said that Mario doesn't belong on the Wii Ware service, so that can be ruled out.
have they even said its going to be a platformer? i think all they said was that the mario team was working on a new title. so for all we know it could be mario foosball. or even a completely new take on mario. (birdo or something?)
I would love to see a old school platformer for the Wii. But a SMG-2 would be awesome as well. As long as it isnt a Mario "sport" game, I'll be happy. But, Give me an Epic SMB game with 8 worlds, tons of suits, tons of levels, 2 person like the old days. Maybe even though yoshi in for a while(not whole game). Or nintendo should do what everyone wants, make a SMG-2 and a NewSMB-2 as well. This years E3 is going to tell what the future holds for the Wii/Nintendo. They need to make gamers happy, not just parents.
