The Wii's WIFI service sux. I have a Ps3 and a Wii and i like my Wii way more and play it more, the WIFI on it sux big time. With my Ps3 i can play anywhere in my house because i have a router and a signal repeater but with the Wii i can only play in 1 room and thats it and that room happens to be where i dont usually play my systems. Why couldnt Nintendo make their WIFI something like the Ps3s? I'm really disappointed with the Wiis Wifi service.

Ermmm, I hope you realise what you just said makes no sense, since the Wii ALSO uses the router...

I know it uses the router, but my Wii can only connect to it in 1 room either though through the rest of my house i still can get a 3 bar signal.

It does kinda suck, and I am not sorry to say it. It cuts in an out and just wont pick up sometimes, even though my router is on the same floor as my Wii is on in my house. Its not like the Wii is in the basement and then the router is on the second floor or something, its down like 3 rooms and on the same floor...

My Wii and my router are pretty much as far apart as they can be in this house - and I've had no problems at all. Everyone I know that has a Wii has used theirs online without a hitch either. So I'm not sure what your problem is, but it's not the norm. Maybe you're connected to a neighbor's router and not your own?

I hve no problems I have both the 360 and Wii, I think your setup is just poorly compatable with the Wii.

I would say it is bad only since I have to emit 802.11 b and g signals rather than just g in order for my system to recognize my access point; my system and wireless access points are near each other too. I would have to smootch off of one of my 11 neighbors' unprotected access points in order to get g signals. The system does hides the technical details from the user such as download speeds in Kbps and detailed progress (other than mario jumping on blocks when its 1/3 or 2/3 done), so I cannot give an opinion about the wireless performance.

I haven't had any problems either and my Wii and router are on seperate floors.  Like most people I changed setting on my router to 1 and I have nto had a problem since.  My router is on the second floor and my Wii is on the first floor and I have experienced no problems.

If you are having problems getting a signal then I would recommend getting the DS USB Wifi Adapter and using that. I originally bought that and it worked.  I returned it once I realized what change needed to be made to the router.  Maybe this will boost the signal and allow you to move your Wii.

The PS3 is known to wreck havoc with other wireless bluetooth devices. Turn off the PS3 completly then see if the wii wifi strength changes. Also try following what is on the nintendowifi.com website about boosting signal strength.

You need to change your router channel to 1 or 11. I had that problem, changed it to 11 and now its lightning fast.

My router is 3 and a half floors under me and on the other side of the house. i get a ful signal and i have not had a single problem to date. i am also using a laptop on wirelss and my pda. I can have them all on and i still dont get any problems connecting or staying connected to my router with my wii. The only time i get a problem is when i use the microwave or cordless phone. but that only messes with the controler signal and not the router so :P.

Perhaps you need to update your routers firmware then.

Sounds like a problem with your router.  I have friends with ps3's that couldnt "see" their old routers until one of them did an upgrade of the firmware, the other had to buy a whole new router.  So I owuld say no thats not nintendos fault.  I had to update my router for the wii (firmware) and it works perfectly.

I dont see why you only get a signal in one room because I can sometimes pickup signals from my neighbors house

It could be a port issue, or incompatability. But in any case the WiFi works great for the Wii, unless the previously mentioned measures are compromised.

Change the channel to 1 or 11 or get a new router.
