When infected, the pokemon earn double the EVs that it would normally get by fighting other pokemon. A pokemon infected by a pokerus can infect others while the virus is in incubation mode (nurse joy tells you about it, and you can see a small dot next to the pokeball), after 4 days the virus ends incubation mode and activates on the pokemon, giving it the special feature that i`ve mentioned before. (on summary menu, you can see "pkrs" on a small bar where they should show the status ailments that the pokemon have). Well, it was like that on emerald, and i believe it still works this way on this generation.

Sounds cool... to make your pokemon strong... awesome.

Pokerus will help you boost your pokemon's stats much faster. If you really want to learn about pokerus, you can visit the link below.

Pokerus FAQ

This is really useful once you learn how to manipulate your pokemon's stats like for example, boosting your pokemon's speed to its maximum or any other stats you like. Pokerus doubles your Effort Values (EV) that you get by fighting against different pokemons. Learning about Effort Values is a must when doing competitive battles. I am actually a newbie when it comes to battling others but i can safely say that i have an advantage over someone that does not do EV training.

EV's are hidden and you will not see it unless you use a stat calculator. It's like this, I will battle a lot of Geodude to get my Pokemon's defense higher or Alakazam to get my SP attack higher and so on.

EV training is easy and you will notice the improvement it does to your pokemons when you level up.

I'm guessing casual players dont focus on this stuff much. I played through quite a few Pokemon games and I never really paid attention to EVs.

The truth is, I never really liked doing these things, it just doesnt feel natural. I think i heard somewhere that Nintendo actually denies the fact that EV's and IV's exist but i cant guarantee if this is true.

Inside Sunyshore Market a girl will give your pokemon an Effort Ribbon if you pokemon's EV's are already maxed.

I remember back in the old pokemon days where you just catch some pokemon and train them over and over, I don't remember exactly but i think i read about something in the game or somewhere else that wild pokemon is always weaker than trained pokemons and your pokemon grows depending on how you train them. EV's are the main cause why trained pokemons are tougher than the one in the wild. Wild pokemon do not have any EV's until you train them.

Since almost everyone does EV training, i really don't have a choice but to do it too.
