I always train my starter, considering I use it most. I'd train a Pokemon you want to evolve if you're trying to fill up your Pokedex, though :)

Well, I do that until it's way powerful enough, then move on to something elseI dont have an specific team but I can recommend you to get a gible and train it, garchomp is a extremely powerful dragon pokemon ;) is my favorite one from diamon, pearl and platinum series :D
http://www.smogon.com/ ...there that should do it ... if you're going to play pokemon for real you've gotta be ready for some nitty gritty, hell raising grind and breeding fest ... pokemon is a bloodsport.
