im not sure if you need ALL the versions, but im pretty sure you'll need more than one. pikachu edition will be really hard to find nowadays tho.

gameboys should be hard to find locally, so i suggest ebaying.

Well, since you're going to the original 150 only, I'd say do it in R/B/Y, it's the easiest way. You'll need to play through both versions and start 1 game 3 times (unless you are playing Yellow, then ignore that last part) There are some pokemon you can't get without trading, but I think you can find them in the wild or at Rocket Corner. But if you have to trade, you'll need to find an old GB wire, the GBA wires will not work. You will need to capture the legendary birds with ultra balls, and you can have the master ball for Mewtwo. If you want to be ultra nerdy about it, you can get Mew as well.

If you had pokemon diamond, pearl, or platinum, you could trade for the original pokemon. but if you have gba games like Pokemon FireRed and Leafgreen, you could get the original pokemon there, i think. You should make sure of this.

You only need Red and Blue. If you don't have a second Gameboy you can use Pokemon Stadium 1 or 2 and an N64 transfer pack. Mew will be unobtainable without a gameshark or brainboy as Mew was only uploaded to your Red and Blue during certain Nintendo promotions.

Actually, you can get Mew in-game. It's a harmless glitch you can do. http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/rbcatchmew.html

Yeah, when I was a kid (I was still in elementary school when I was playing Blue), I tried the rumor where you die on the SS Anne after you get cut so it won't leave, then come back with strength and surf and try to move the truck on the island. I heard that only worked on the Japanese game, I was disappointed when it didn't work on Blue. Such a fun game, and so mysterious at the same time.

Hahaha sure did.

Luckily my buddy forewarned me after catching Missingno and jacking up his game. I made sure to only catch the rediculously high level Cubones lol.

You could also use Fire Red/Leaf Green to catch all the original 150, though you won't be able to get mew other than hacking one or trading with someone who has gone to the event. You could always transfer them to D/P if you did that.

You need Red and Blue, 2 gameboys and a link cable. Then you need to catch ever pokemon you can on each and trade them all to 1 game.

I wouldn't bother doing this on RBY now, as all the original 150 are available on DPP generation games. Also, FireRed and LeafGreen on GBA are the exact same games, only a lot more accessable and much nicer presented, so it might be less of a chore to do it that way.

I have pokemon red, blue, yellow, gold, silver, crystal, FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Saphire, Emerald, Diamond, Pearl and Platinum at the minute, but the only reason i managed to get my hands on the old ones was cos I worked in a game store that sold retro stuff, and the newer ones the missus tends to buy whichever one I don't have. I'd hate to be tracking them down on ebay or anything, cos it took a few years of trade in's and a bit of pure luck to get them!

Like I say, don't bother with the original GrayBoy versions, get the GBA ones, then you can even trade em to DPP, whereas if you do it in the originals you can't do anything with em!

Don't forget about the Mew glitch/egg/thing.
