My thoughts on why the next console won't be called "Wii 2"

The number 2 in Japanese is "Ni" (pronounced nee) so the Wii in Japan would end up being called Nintendo Wii Ni. I think you see my point.

Also Nintendo has said that they wanted a simple name for the Wii that would be the same in all countries so I highly doubt they'll name it Wii 2 but call it something else in Japan.

The only time that they have ever had a name resemble the previous name is when they released the Super Nintendo Entertainment System as a successor to the Nintendo Entertainment System. After that it's been the Nintendo 64, the Nintendo Gamecube, and the Nintendo Wii. They also dropped the Game Boy name when they released the Nintendo DS, further showing how little they care about continuing well-known brand names. I'd actually be surprised if the next console was named "Nintendo Wii (something)"; historical precedent (and Nintendo's general modus operandi) would suggest otherwise.

Well...what makes you think so much about their next console...have you heard a rumour that their bringing one out? or is this just random speculations and guesses?

I mean, sure they will bring a new one out eventually, but did anything make you suddenely think about their next console..or was it just randomness that our minds seem to love?

I think they'll do something similar to the Gameboy, where they'll keep the name for a while because of its popularity and then eventually change it.

That said, I have no idea what could be added onto the name 'Wii' that sounds right.

i thought of revolution because that was the codename for the wii when it was just a rumour way back, well thats what i heard anyway. i recon the nintendo revolution sounds better than nintendo wii. but ahh well...i guess ill just have to ignore the juvenile jokes my parents sometime make...=/
