Vertical, and for those who have mentioned it, standing the Wii vertical doesn't not block the vents on the bottom AS LONG as you also use the round stabilizer disc to keep the Wii from tipping over. This keeps the bottom of the Wii level with the soft impact pads on the bottom of the Wii holder which allows for proper air intake. The vents on the bottom are for air intake, the one on the back is for air outlet. When air intake vents are concerned, you only need as much room as needed for air to freely pass through, which ain't much. Air outlet is where you want 6 inches or more the the hot air expelled is not sucked back in through the bottom. Since heat rises, standing it vertical allows for less chance of ho air being sucked back in the intake vent. But the Wii is pretty well made, not like other game systems out there... Bill... I'm looking at you, =)
I think it looks cooler vertical. Plus it takes up less room.
