I'm a lil confused here, what's the best TV type for the Wii?

Well i'm moving into a new better and bigger appartment next summer, so i'm going to get a bigger room and i'd like to get a tv there.

So i've look on the net a bit, trying to get the best deal, but i'm not sure what to get... Wii support 480p (whatever that is)

So what kind of tv should i get? I heard that when you have a big tv, you get bad resolution on the Wii... (i've already got a 32inch and it's like.. medium bad, my old gamecube looked better on my old 27inch)

If i get a 1080p.. does it support 480p? what is 480p or 480i ? would a HDTV make my Wii's graphics look better?

I'm totally lost!!!

HELP!

Well, for the Wii id go with a Widescreen SD TV of a fairly large size, say, 32-42''. Because the Wii is only in 480p it'll look very nice. LCD's over 32'' kill the Wii, it looks like mud, you see the terrible resolution therefore jaggies everywhere, etc. etc.

Ok what SD TV?

I was thinking of getting a ratter small tv, like a 22inch, but wall mounted, with some kind of moving crane over my bed.

And would HD give a better look on the Wii? or its only for movies and tv with HD signal?

I say go for any sort of Samsung T.V., IMO they're the best, qaulity wise, though they can get a bit expensive.

the wii looks the best on televisions that can natively play 480p.  this would mean an edtv which was never really around or an hdtv crt which is almost extinct (plus they are still expensive).  this is the only way to get the best picture quality that is also lag free in games that require precise timing such as smash bros or guitar hero.  best thing to do is buy a regular old sdtv crt and wait for lcd hdtv to get better.

Very few stores sell SDTVs anymore and that's a good thing. If you want a wall mounted TV that's 22" you'll have to get an LCD HDTV. You'll get "jaggies" if you get a SDTV or an HDTV. SDTVs won't work with TV shows in the year 2009 anyway.

What do you mean they hate links? I'm using firefox, and I can link :?.

I'll check it out though, I like buying name brand ones, because I know I can trust them, plus I get "ooh"s and "ahh"s from friends "OMG YOU HAVE A NICE SAMSUNG DUDE"...stuff like that. :P

ok i have a 19 in widescreen lcd hdtv from westinghouse and the wii looks awesome on it!

SD TV= standard definition television(worst there is..480i)

ED TV= Enhanced Definition telvision( in the middle...supports 480p) if your looking for the cheapest get the ed tv because it still maximizes the wiis graphical capabilities!

HD TV= High definition television( Almost best you can get supports 720p and 1080i)

Full HD TV= Full high definition television( The absolute best you can get... the ps3 runs as high as this!... it supports up to 1080p

Order of best looking(common resolutions) 480i,480p,720p, 1080i, and 1080p!

Basically this means get a 20 something inch widescreen LCD television,ok? And make sure it has atleast 480p resolution capabilities! And buy COMPONENT CABLES FOR THE WII CONSOLE IF YOU WANT IT TO BE IN HD!!!

This is all fact and if you follow my advice you should be able to get the most out of your wii's graphical capibilities...have a question just messege me!

just because an HDTV supports 480p, it doesn't mean that it will display it at that low resolution right? For example, this one supports 480i/p, 720p, and 1080p. But if you plug in a Wii, it will still look pixelated because of the stretching, right?

ya. I've got 2 TVs in my house.

1. 30' widescreen CRT HDTV supporting up to 1080i.

2. 46" 1080p widescreen LCD HDTV.

I've hooked them both up to the wii and this is what I've found out:

The CRT looks better and is lag free on the whole but the LCD has cleaner text using the component cables.

If you're not gonna be using the internet channel much, go CRT. Otherwise, get a smaller LCD, preferrably one that supports 480p and has a game mode so it eliminates the lag issues.

We have a Sony 1080i HDTV in our basement and a decent set of multiplatform HD cables. I'd say the Wii looked relatively awesome on it.

whoozwah

CRT HDTV usually has a native resolution of 480p/1080i so the Wii should work best with it. Sharp had the GP1U gaming model LCD HDTV that had the least lag of any full hd 1080p but it had problems and they stopped making it. Hopefully other options come out in the near future.

They don't, at least not in this decade.
