Okay, I think the the wires and such aren't postitioned correctly. I remember trying to fix the L button on my DS Lite so I pulled it out and I noticed if everything is placed wrong and not tightly in place, it may make the DS stop working. I hope that helps.

If you aren't good with repairs (like me) I would suggest getting it fixed, or sending it to Nintendo. I'd probably break mine if it were broken.

Another possibility for dealing with a borking DS lite hinge - a case like the Nerf Armor http://www.amazon.com/Nerf-Armor-Black-White-Nintendo-DS/dp/B002M4ZMQ4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1277929985&sr=8-2 It has it's own hinges and acts like an exo-skeleton for the ds. Keeps the lid from flopping around. Not as good as new but a lot simpler then replacing the shell.
