Well as my topic title asks...what was your favorite pokemon generation/games? I like the first two generations, and as far as games go I also favor the older RBYGSC games which didn't have the whole nature thing and you were able to max out pokemon stats a bit easier, but at the same time when they added nature to each pokemon it also added more depth to pokemon training, just my little opinion..

I love Gen III. Pretty big world and a lot of adventuring. (Instead of forcing you to continue the story).

Great pokemon and also nice graphics.

Third gen was the best. (Ruby and Sapphire of course) It seems as I look at similar threads like these around the internet, there's a huge number of supporters for Gen 3 on Pokemon-focused forums, and more nostalgic fans on non-Pokemon-focused forums ex. GameSpot.

The second. Had both Johto and Kanto regions and was the last generation before Game Freak started getting lazy with the Pokemon design. I still consider Silver to be the greatest Pokemon game ever made.

Gen II

It's one of the few oldschool games that I don't go "oh man I wish this was...."

Shows that it was a true masterpiece at the time of release.

Gen III and IV are good games but not in the same league as I, II and V.

I really do love all of them but I mostly like the ones on GameBoy Micro, you just take it everywhere and play pokemon. I've clocked 175 hours on FireRed

Gen 2. I mean, Crystal was my first video game. I played it to death. But the pokemon designs still had their soul... unlike Gen 5 :(

A tie between 4th and 5th gen, but it'll definitely be 5th gen once more games come out.

I pretty much lost my nostalgia goggles. :P

Gen 1 was were it all started.

Gen 2 was great.

Gen 3 was the best, so much to explore and do. Also the first pokemon I got was ruby I still remember saving birch from that poochyena

Gen 4 great with LOTS to do and legondaries to catch

Gen 5 was extremely disappointing and feels like " OK DONE" after you beat that certain guy. Gen 3 is my favorite, probably from nostalgia.

I just want to make another one of my opinions clear, the Generation 5 Pokemon far outclass the Gen 1 Pokemon in terms of design. Sure, there were some dunces in the bunch, but every generation had those.

Damn... I literally do not know. Gen II gave you 2 huge regions to explore, Gen III was the one I spent the most time on (I loved making forts and stuff) and Gen V is fantastic as well. Gen IV is also good. I really do not know.

I thought the same until getting the remake of the Silver version. Now that i played the whole game again and have Black, I think Gold and Silver are great but overrated.

Johto, Gold and Silver.

I liked the legendaries and the movies during this time period.

I love Gold and Silver the most, although the first gen was pretty great as well. It was around the third generation I started to get bored with the series.

I liked it when there were only a hundred and fifty- at least then there was a chance of actually catching them all.

You couldn't catch mew. I don't think the problem with catching them all is about the amount (that makes it only more fun and takes more time), but the events. I have a router that works with my (3)DS now at my home. But i didn't at first. It was impossible for me to get them all. That sucks and is the main problem. Or events for visiting stores in the US, when i live in the EU where such events don't occur.

That's why i used action replay. Not really cheating them, but getting passes that allow me to start the event. I'm not proud of it, but i had no other option. Nintendo is asking for hackers if they continue doing that ****.

I've never really cared about "catching them all". When I was a kid I finished the dex in Pokemon Blue. All I got was a pat on the back from professor Oak. How anticlimactic.

Yeah, but I asked someone recently how many Pokemon there are now, and he told me something nearing 700! How am I supposed to pick between six and ten of the creatures to raise to max level if there are 600+ to choose from? It's gotten out of hand. (I should now point out that pkmn L. Green was the last pkmn game I played seriously.)

More variety =more chance of you loving something new = more to choose from = bad thing. Got it.

Third generation: -I love the Pokemon from this generation, it doesn't look like they were pulling at straws to me -Secret bases were too much fun -The huge world -Dive actually being neat (sorry Unova, Dive didn't do too much for me) But most of all? The music. The music in the game is... Amazing, to say the least. From gym leader battles to certain themes I remember to this day (especially Petalburg City)... I love it. I hope they make a remake.

Kanto the best region? For three generations, it was either a boring prairie with buildings or a horribly gimped version of itself. I can understand that this is all opinions, but you're going to pull a link proving that the region with the most boring caves, sea routes, land routes, and cities is better than something creative, a la Sinnoh or Hoenn? Kanto only became more fascinating due to the Sevii Islands, and when it finally wasn't so flat any more in Gen 4. (And the Pokemon... Bleh)

My favorite was Generation One. It's not the nostalgia factor put in either, I legitamately enjoy it more than the other ones. The story was really enticing.

Second Generation, Crystal. The game offered a large story, as well allowing players to travel between Kanto and Johto, with the edition of being able to challenge the Pokemon Special Manga Hero, Red. The fact you had 16 badges to earn wasn't to shabby of a addition either. Rather then spending hours for IV'S, you basically earned them all when you hit level 100, so you were able to play through with your favorites.

I still feel that classic Red and Blue were the best. The oldschool gameplay, the original graphics and sounds, none of the bells and whistles that have been added to the series since - just the basic things that made Pokemon great.

I like all generations. I haven't played B/W yet, so I'm exempting them here. Still, I'd probably enjoy them too.

Generation II is my favorite, though. By a somewhat wide margin. Generation III was the weakest.
