I am not saying it is or isn't. I just want to see everyones opinions.

For me, the online capability to download VC games and use the internet channel and play against others through Wi-Fi makes the Wii a lot better, but it can live without it. What do you guys think?

No. Even though the Wii is great when hooked up to the internet, you can still enjoy many games by theirself. There are no games so far that require you to use the internet.

The Wii is only good for downloading VC games at this point. As far as gameplay is concerned, Pokemon Battle Revolution was the biggest disappointment. Hopefully Super Smash Bros. Brawl will make Wi-fi worth playing.

It isn't pointless if you don't have internet, you just get a few extra features.

Wouldn't that make Mario Galaxy pointless?

Definitely not...

While the wii has some neat online features, the bulk of the great games so far don't have any online features; If you want the system for VC titles, sure, it's pointless, but if you want it for games such as MP3 and SMG (which, imo, is the main reason people buy the console) you'd hardly know the difference.

If you do have a wii spend the extra money on the internet adapter but the wii is totally worth it without it.

I think that the Wii is slightly better in the fact that the hot releases for the other two systems consist mostly of games that work a lot better if you play them online, whereas the Wii has almost no online games but they are *edit*almost*edit* all still fun anyways.

Even though i'm getting it online, and the wii online is a lot better, (No VC!) it's not pointless. I've had my wii internet-less for so long now, and i use it all the time.

not really. wii online is mainly used for downloading VC games and depending on your situation (if you keep your older systems), you might not have to buy any vc games.

the wii has enough great one player, non online games to warrant it being a worthy purchase without internet -TP, galaxy, res evil... still, online does make it that little bit better... specially with brawl and kart coming out soon-ish

Pointless? Definitely not.

Does it make the experience better? Heck yes, it does.

Well, it's not exactly pointless. You can still play games and such. But without internet, you're severly limited. There's no Wii updates, very few channels become available to you, no VC downloads, and no Wi-Fi play in games.

Still, there are several games that you don't need the internet to enjoy like Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3.

Well first of all, the wii games till now feel like they are some kind of minigames, of course im not saying they are bad but could be better, and now take away the internet that makes the things interestin for those who has no money to buy many games, it would be frustrating cause this generation may be the best in graphics but it lacks of story and gameplay or they end with just 5 hours of been playing it, the internet its the one that makes those game fun and adictive, try playing super mario strikers on the wii and you could spent the entire day playing and not get bored, without internet its just another simple game that you will stop playing during the month.

No, especially since a majority of Wii gamers don't even have it connected to the internet and few games actually have online capabilities. It's nice to have the VC, but most casuals (majority of Wii gamers) don't care about it.

I survived about 9 months without internet on my wii and to me, it was definately not pointless. The added features of internet access on the wii do make it a lot better now that I have it.

Was the NES pointless because it didn't use the internet?

Was the SNES pointless because it didn't use the internet?

Was the N64 pointless because it didn't use the internet?

Was the Gamecube pointless because it didn't use the internet?

Was the Gameboy, Gameboy Advance or the Gameboy Advance SP piontless because they didn't use the internet?

Or how about the Genesis, and the 3DO and the PS1?

Online gaming isn't everything. Sometimes a game is actually *gasp* fun to play because it's...fun to play, not just because of online multiplayer.
