He knows that, read the post, he's saying you should charge it when it isn't red, because when you drain it completely it wears out the battery.

in the manual it says it only has about 500 charges or so before the battery starts to loose power, so i let it go to the red then charge it.. i dunno if thats wrong.

Mine's always plugged in when I'm near a plug, regardless of battery charge.  I think it's probably bad for the battery memory the way I do it (i.e. not letting it fully discharge before charging it.)  But it's very convenient and so far I've been fine.

If you're worrying about this, just charge it while you're playing.

I don't see why everyone stresses out about their DS's battery life. It's going to die sometime and chances are your not going to notice the battery life dying at all.

That is completely correct. Charge it only when its red otherwise it will wear out faster. The less charges the better. Charging the battery whenever especially when its unnecessary wears out the battery at a big rate.

When ever the light becomes red or before I leave the house I charge it. Same with my PSP charge it if the green light starts blinking or before I leave but of course I have car chargers for both so it doesn't really need to be charged before I leave the house...

It's always plugged in, unless the battery is already full and I've just played a couple of minutes. Then I usually don't bother plugging it in again. The only time the light goes red is when I've played the DS from when the battery was full (a few hours).

I also leave mine plugged in constantly when near an outlet. The orange light never comes on, meaning I'm just bypassing the baterry being used at all, with the actual electric powering the DS. As for rechargin, when I need to I do it only when the light turns red, or if practical (like I'm not playing over Wi-Fi), I drain the battery completely before recharging.

No it doesn't. 500 chages means 500 charge cycles. Example: 1 charge cycle = from flat to full OR from half to full + from half to full again. So if you used a 7th of you ds's battery every day for a week and charged it every night, that would be one charge cycle and thus only 1/500.

Me too. I've only charged it once when the light was green.

I'm not sure about ds battery but I know for allot of other devices your suppose to use the battery right up before you charge it, or else it gets stuck (or burnt) in some kind of short cycle at the beging of the battery and cant use the whole length anymore.
I heard this a long time ago maybe battery's are better now?

Lithium (newer) batties are the opposite... It's actually WORSE to fully drain them.

see...your not supposed to completey drain it and then charge it...but your not supposed to be overly charging it cause your using it when its already full. thats what i think. find the middle. charge it once in a while is what i think. but you can always replace the battery so its really no biggie. the manual tells you how to replace it.
