Barnyard

hi guys and gals newbie here,got a problem playing barnyard, i'm on the mission where you have to use the metal detector to follow the pipes and then fix the water leaks,my problem is doing this as nothing seems to happen,dont know if i'm doing anything wrong.

Any advice would be welcome, also any cheats anywhere.
