Question about classic controller on wii please help

I have 2 wii motes, want a 3rd for multi player. Was looking at the classic controller, only thing I don't like about it is it's wired. Someone said you can plug it into a wii mote, if you do this does it basically disable the wii mote then? the one you have it plugged into?

What is the cheapest way to add a 3rd wireless controller? I hear the OEM/generic ones don't work very well.
