Bayonetta 2 GameSpot review: 10

This is the first time since Super Mario Galaxy 2 that GameSpot have given a game a 10/10 score.

Totally unexpected. Amazing score and just increases my hype for the game. I believe it has got a few 10's now.

@Litchie: All but the digital version (assuming you are in the US). Retail price is $59.99. (Includes physical Bayo 2 disc and Bayo 1 download code) Digital price is Bayo 2 for $49.99, Bayo 1 for $9.99. So really works out to be the same.

Oh ok, cool. I'm getting all my Wii-U games physically personally. Gonna be cool to see what the fuzz was about Bayo 1 soon, as I missed out last time. I really despise quick-time events, which these games seem to have quite a lot of, but I tried the demo of Bayo 2 and liked it, so I'm gonna give it a chance.

I was kinda hoping they'd release Bayo 1 physically with the retail version of Bayo 2. I'm not a big fan of digital downloads personally. If it has to be that way, I'll take it. Really glad Nintendo decided to step in and help them with the game. Should be a lot of fun.

Okay,okay before all these great scores I thought Bayonetta 2 was going to be a *Great* game but Destructoid,Edge,Joystiq AND Gamespot gave it a Perfect Score just amazes me.I might have to purchase a Wii U,was already interested now even more so.I'm VERY surprised at Gamespot giving it a 10/10 especially since they're very hmmm lets say "Strict" on their reviews.Been looking for some good games and this just happens to be looking even greater.

Regardless of the "perfect" rating, I'm just glad to see the WiiU getting a 3rd party title that is not half-baked or half-assed. That's great for those who loved the first game or fans of this genre. I still have a hard time seeing this game help sell more Wiiu's. Hopefully it does sell well so maybe other 3rd parties will start supporting the platform. Nice job platinum!

Great for Wii U and Bayonetta fans. I'm a huge Platinum games fan so this was always a must buy, but my hype has gone up even more since seeing the reviews.

Now let's hope it sells like it is scoring. AMAZING.

@onesiphorus: I played the 10 minute demo and got bored. It's a hack n slash. God of War and DMC seem better, only because of the storylines. The reviewer said the story in Bayonetta 2 is nonsense, sooo what's up with this?

I was going to buy the game, now I'm going to buy two and send one as a gift. My nephews need to get off of Fifa already.

This is a surprise. The score i mean, i already knew it's a masterpiece :)

@bdmckinley: Wrong, the retail game includes a physical copy of bayonetta, NOA was going to do that but soon corrected themselves.

It's nonsense in a good way, if it's anything like the first game or The Wonderful 101, and it sounds like it's ramped up even more this time. The ending sequence of the demo made me laugh out loud, as the giant monster Bayonetta summons to eat another giant monster breaks free of her hair and attacks her, only to be killed by an even bigger monster. It's ridiculous in the best possible way.

The reviews I've read have also praised the variety in the game, so it's not just hack and slash all the time. The Wonderful 101 is the same. The regular gameplay is consistently broken up by other weird gameplay styles, though the quality of that stuff is inconsistent in The Wonderful 101.

Hopefully I'll be yelling "WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO???" less often in Bayonetta 2 than I did in The Wonderful 101...

Well technically its second party as its published by Nintendo, but Platinum makes quality games, they don't half ass it regardless of the publisher.

Wow, that's incredible. Had no interest in this game but might look into it now if it's as good as they're saying it is.

my preorder can not get here fast enough QQ (but since it releases the 24th over here I suppose I have to wait :P).

I'm buying a copy for myself and gifting one to a nephew that desperately needs something other than EA games.

@Chozofication: Hot damn. I must have miss that. Well, that's good news for me!

@Litchie: The quick time events aren't really a big issue here, the Witch Time for example is just dodging at the last second gives you an edge for a few seconds you don't have to do it. Or if your talking about when it says JUMP! And you have to jump, meh thats nothing.

It's 2nd Party, and there is no point in caring about more Wii U consoles selling anymore, if you have the Wii U, just enjoy the games you want on it, it's like the Gamecube Era. And Nintendo could be the only company left of the big 3, 3rd party support would still never come back, they would make their own console and fail and die out before returning to Nintendo, simple reason is there is a bias against Nintendo in the industry.

The demo was great. Hopefully the score encourages people(who otherwise wouldn't look at it) to give it a try. :3

And here I am, without a wii u, unable to play the sequel to my all time favorite hack and slash game.

I saw them separate on the store. That's great pricing for both retail/digital.

Bayonetta is not really my kind of game, but since it comes packed with the original I will give it a try.

Still, I am happy about the score, especially considering some of the reactions to it will be quite amusing.

well 4000+ comments within a day...lots of butt hurt fanboys. Its lame majority are hating it just because its on a Nintendo system. :P

I've been anticipating Bayonetta 2 for some time. I was honestly expecting a 7 or 8. I LOVE these type of games, so the score doesn't affect my hype for the release soon. Scrolling through the comments section of the GS review was both funny and pathetically sad. Why trash on the score Bayonetta 2 got when it hasn't even been released outside Japan? Are people really that emotionally dependent on the review scores of games of systems they don't even own? This generation of gamers has garnered quite a few crybabies. :/

Well, guess it's time to set aside some cash for this. Maybe I won't get Smash on Wii U day one so I can get this instead.

I couldn't be happier. I called GOTY on day 1 (I assumed Captain Toad was coming out in 2015) and I stand by it.

Witch time seems fun. I'm talking about press X to watch your character do something awesome in a cutscene you have no control over. I just see it as an extremely lazy way to make a game. Seems forgivable in Bayonetta though.
