The weirdest sh*t happens on St. Patrick's Day, I swear. The first signs of something awry occurred while I was on a bus taking me to a friend's house. A black man in front of me was reading some Star Wars book, Lost Tribes or something. Immediately I knew that day was going to be strange; black people don't like Star Wars.
Then some creepy old lady started offering everyone mints. Not sure if she was drunk or just crazy. Then once I hooked up with my friends and we made our way down to a party, we found people passed out in a ditch on a main street. With shoes covering their eyes. Not sure if they were dead, but we took pictures anywayÂ
Obviously, as hinted at by Champ's post, things got crazy after that. When every house on a street is having a lawn party or a kegger of sorts, they eventually start to merge into one another and create a street party. There was soooo many people on this street that you could literally feel an energy in the air. It kind of felt apocalyptic.
This is where things got bad. People started throwing beer bottles, fights started breaking out, then a news van came onto the street. It got flipped pretty quick and then set on fire. People were throwing everything into this fire, from fences to televisions. I decided to get out of there once the cops showed up. It was a warzone. I never saw the van explode, but I heard it.
I read the reports this morning that there were apparently over a thousand people on this one street and I don't doubt it. The cops couldn't do anything, but they broke up the riot at around 4 in the morning, long after I had left. Us Canadians may seem friendly and boring, but we take our riots seriously....Even when they have no point whatsoever Â
I watched a party (non St. Paddy's) get rousted by the cops. It was entertaining because I was telling my friend "watch these dumbasses screw their party up"
Because:
A. The venue they picked was too small for the amount of people that showed up.
B. They started to get stupid and started blocking traffic.
Result- Police intervention.
Ah, my tax dollars at work,
Last night was weird for several reasons, mainly personal. But the worst thing about it was that I wasn't up to drink. I wasn't feeling too well, and if I forced myself I would have had a repeat of last Sunday, where I laid in bed until 5:30.
In short, the night out kinda sucked.

I was disappointingly responsible, just ended up going to a buddy's (relatively) low-key party for some upper-end-of-social drinking. There is something to be said for waking up the next morning and not hating every cell in your body, though.
Not sure how we're supposed to feel about riots (because while the wanton destruction of property by drunk, irresponsible 20-somethings is obviously a terrible thing, it turns out we as a nation are pretty damn good at it). So, uh, I guess I hope it was worth the coming weeks of Helen Lovejoy-esque moral panic?
I studied for my final exams and read. That was it. St. Patrick's Day isn't a big thing here.
Victoria Day is hardcore here.
St. Patrick's day was so awesome. Parade was whatever. Never been surrounded by that many white people in my life.
But I got so sh1t faced!!!!!! Jamesons all day, erryday(because jameson was like on every special).Bar hopped, ate mad meat cart meat, one of the bars had a karookee thing, and while non of you will ever see that supremely homo footage. I can safely say that I am criminally good at Bon Jovi songs(and aint no mountain high enough). I also ended up knocking out at Penn Station( mean legit like OUT) to the point where Liz could not wake me up at all so I had to take the train back home a little later, and by later i mean like earlier this morning. And the beauty of it was that I was still pretty much under the influence.

Nothing special drinking wise, but the wife and I went to see Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood's Two Man Show. Some funny PG sh*t.
I was planning a similar night out, but I ended up spending the day sick. So basically, f*ck you. :(
