YOUR Most Frustrating Moments In Gaming

I am currently between the proverbial "rock and a hard place".

The "rock" is Brothers In Arms: Hells Highway (PS3). I've been stuck at a bombed out ruin that you are supposed to fight through for 1 month now. I am too macho to turn the difficulty down to "casual" so I'm just a frustrated casual player playing on "veteran".

The "hard place" is Demon's Souls (PS3). This game is like an abusive but attractive Asian girlfriend that does not speak English. 13 hours of gameplay and I am getting killed with disturbing frequency.

Is anyone else "stuck" in a game? Has anyone else stopped playing a game because of it's difficulty?

Of course, we are all hardcore here so I understand if some of us are too insecure to admit our shortcomings in the gaming world.

On the other hand, it helps to talk about such issues...

Maybe I wasn't approaching the games in the right way, but impressive as they were each one for me was one long exercise in "Oh for xxxx sake!" I just about managed to beat the first one on Easy difficulty, but as for the third one - I mean, there's challenging, and then there's just being mean :evil:

I played the Devil May Cry game for the PS3...was that 4? I'm not sure. I broke up with what I was hoping to be a girlfriend and went on a spending spree of about 4 PS3 games, which I then sold when my ego returned to normal.

Glad I didn't go down that road, though...getting the crap beat out of me in a game after a romantic catastrophe would not have been good!

Advance Wars 1, on the bonus mission at the end of the game against Eagle. Basically its my 3 infantry versus 2 bombers which is quite impossible and i've been stuck on it for about 2 and a half years

Yep, that was number 4. After the abuse I'd suffered at the hands of the PS2 titles I didn't even bother. Who knows, though? I may work up the courage one of these days...

Below is pretty much what i was like playing Ninja gaiden 2 :P

Jumpin' Jack Flash in Elite Beat Agents took me over an hour to beat, and all of the stylus-spinning made my thumb bleed. I had to try using three different styli and a pen before I finally beat it (with the original stylus, of course :x). That was two days ago, and my thumb is still raw.

Water temple, need i say more?

Final boss in Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. Cannot beat. So frustrating after all the time I put into that game. I haven't even come close to beating it.

Devil May Cry for sure. In 3 at the end where you had to fight EVERY boss again. Thats awful game design. In Devil may Cry 4, the mission in the garden like place, where the snake lady boss was. There was a part where you had to jump across a cavern while blue platforms would appear and disapear quickly. To make it worse these reaper enemies with strogn sweep atacks and attacks designed to send you flying in the air attacked you, Now, on Dante must die mode, this was almost impassable. Needless to say after months of trying this part, I sold the game.

I got it over two years ago and still never beat that.

I was insane enough to try to beat Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty on Extreme. I got to Olga and never passed that part.:)

I also never "beat" Metal Gear Solid 4 because of the final boss fight...I played on "Big Boss" difficutly for 30 or so hours until that final moment.

Funny thing is, that it is still one of the best gaming experiences I have had the privelege of having.

Escort Missions, on any game with stupid AI. Nobody has ever liked those, WHY DO THEY STILL MAKE THEM? :cry:

I got it over two years ago and still never beat that.

God tell me about. It took me like half a year to eight months to finally beat that one damn song on the diva mode. What was even more ridiculous about it was that I actually managed to beat "Ready Set Go" in Ouendan on the hardest difficulty not only before I beat JJF but I also managed to beat RSG in about a week. To anyone who has ever played Ouendan that speaks volumes about how ridiculously hard JJF is.

Also, another frustrating moment for me was the final boss in Golden Sun 2. I don't know if it was because my party was under-leveled or because the boss is really that hard, but I spent months trying to beat that bastard. I'll never forget the day when I finally managed to kill it.

Oh yeah, and if online multiplayer counts then COD4, Halo 3, and WoW probably account for 90% of my most frustrating moments. Especially COD4 and WoW.

Call of Duty 3 Veteran Difficulty

MGS 2 on Extreme ! wtf was wrong with me trying that lol!? I got to the Harrier and said fuk this" it was hard but not challenging hard it was cheap and unfair hard, one hit from a harrier and your're gone.

DMC 3 on normal, passed the whole game but there were bosses that frustrated me, agni & rudra comes to mind

In Killzone 2, General Radec on Elite difficulity

I am now trying to beat COD 4 on hardened. I'm on the level where you must stop warheads from blowing up eastern America where I live. It is hard as ever, I sware. Especially when you get to the part where you go either left or right into those vents. I hate it. I got to the room where you stop the warheads...... with like 30 secs left and ended up screaming words I shouldn't, lol.

Definitely. I hate that dude. He tops of the icing on the Killzone 2 ending cake. He was hard on easy. I hate it when he teleports. I just start shooting in circles, lol. He is super annoying and lowers self esteem, and is even more annoying than the 30's music on Fallout 3. LOL

Advance Wars 2 last mission. 3 superweapons (missile, laser, meteor attack), tons of base defenses and a broken out CO is enough to make me smash the game :x

I remember that. Strom was such a broken CO. Until you unlocked him of course, at which point his CO power went from "WMD" to "water pistol".

Really though, all the advance wars games get pretty bull**** in the last several levels. I remember one level in Dual Strike which I just knew had to be the last level of the game since the map was so huge, there was a superweapon of mass rape-age at the center, a slew of defensive canons, the enemy had mega tanks and bombers out the wazoo, and to top it all off there was a time limit. Then after I beat it I find out that I still had something like 7 more levels to go. I cried.

Jecht was themost frustratingthing for me to beat because I wasn't prepared for him

HELL yeah same here...I thought I was doin awsome and really enjoyed the game...till the ninjas get guns and them damn robots WTF...maybe give RYU a damn gun you MFERS

Every Water Temple in every Zelda game... I hate those things...

I played Mile High Club on veteran in COD4 for something like three or four hours straight before I beat it. And then there was playing Green Grass and High Tides on expert guitar in Rock Band. I made my profile motto "I am a loser" until I beat it.

The same kind of thing happend to me on return to Castle Wolfenstein. But that game never interested me so i just traded it in.

My most frustrating moment recently has to be red faction Guerrilla because my teammates are all just so stupid.

Halo 3 Mythic Difficulty (all skull on). It took me over 15 hours to beat the game that way.

I think a lot of people hate that dungeon simply because of the memories they have of trying to get through it back when the game was still a new release. I remember that when I was 10 or 11 years old it took me months to finally get through that damn dungeon. I never played the Water Temple again until several months ago (I always used a cheat device to skip that part lol) when I was replaying through the whole game. It took me all of maybe three hours to go through the whole dungeon. I found actually found it pretty easy and straightforward and couldn't help but wonder why I had found it so incredibly difficult as a child. Maybe it's the fact that now at 21 my mental abilities are much higher than they were at 11, maybe it's been the decade's worth of gaming experience in the meantime, or maybe it's the fact that games have slowly gotten a lot more complex over the years to the point that OoT's dungeons no longer pose the challenge they once did in comparison (let's not forget that back in 1998 OoT was considered a difficult game. Now it's considered to be pretty easy).

ninja gaiden sigma was fustrating on hard mode... Mgs4 just made me fustrated i actually spent 60 bucks on a interactive dvd. and the orange box ,due to how bad of a port it was i just couldn't finish it.
