One.........born.................every...............second :D
But honestly i dont get these people, why would you meet someone with that amount of cash at a private motel away from public in america? he is lucky he got away with his life.
This happens every year. Any time now we'll be hearing about someone at one of those gift wrapping stations in a shopping centre stealing gifts and replacing them with weighted boxes.
Reminds me of that old story about a person who bought an Xbox 360 from eBay only to receive a picture of the console instead of the real deal. Fucking scam artists.

They're all funny. Both the con artist and the scammed exist in a perpetual cycle, never to end. Sad, but still funny.

you're not alone Ride :) that was funny even tho he got scammed.
I hate when people blame the victim of these things, like "She should have read the post". While, I agree that you should always be wary....heck, I read everything 2-3 times before I bid...but you would hope in a site as established as eBay that you would have at least some basic sense or legitimacy. When people go in knowing they are going to scam someone and hoping they can take advantage of someone (likely someone purchasing as a gift) it just hurts the community as a whole.

you mean her :P, but seriously, if you don't check the freaking box before you buy it, you're pretty stupid. Especially if it is over the internet
People wouldn't have to scam if they would just get a job. But that's right people are lazy at best. Not all jobs include working and some jobs can make you a decent amount of money in less time if you know what your doing. I work for tips and make around $75 an hour on Friday and Saturday night. Trust me I don't like to work either but I'm not out to scam nor do I enjoy hearing about these situations.

hehe hard to check the box on ebay but ya :)
Was pretty funny tho, inventive of the scammer there putting a picture in the box or letter.
Well, the checking should be on the host (is that called host? I'm not sure) side first then the buyer side. It's the internet, everyone should be really cautious.
Man trying to sell PS4 gets shot dead and robbed by buyer.

I think I'll take the towels.
And now you know why I don't deal with places like Craiglist or EBay.
A few years ago I would have agreed completely, but to be fair ebay has become much safer of late. Paypal and the feedback system have pretty much given the buyer every safeguard possible.
Craigslist on the other hand is just a shopping list for muggers and murderers. I can't see why people use it.
lol what a moron... Who doesn't check what's in the box(and if it works) before buying something used?

Not just muggers and murderers, but also rapists too, if I recall.

That's fucked up. How pathetic can your life be to kill someone over a PS4? Karma is a bitch and whoever did that will bite the bullet sooner or later. Then you will see their sobbing mother crying about how their son was a good kid and never hurt anyone.
I recently got scammed buying a fake PS3 controller off someone from Craigslist. It came in a real box with legit looking serial numbers and everything. Didn't realize it was fake until I started gaming with it. A major purchase like a PS4 is something I would never buy off craigslist.

What happens in that case? Is there anyone you can complain to, aside from, well, the cops I guess?
@Black_Knight_00: I texted and called the seller but of course they never responded. Since it was an hour travel time to meet up with the seller, I just took as a lost and a lesson learned. If you saved the add, you could report it to admins on craigstlist and they could possibly track the seller down through their IP or phone number.
Even then, the scam artist can just use a different phone number to create a new add and scam someone else. There's pretty much nothing you can do getting scammed on craigslist with bartering unless it's some crazy shit like dude getting gunned down for his PS4.

This is what i mean , why do people meet up either in their own home or in motels?
Sometimes i wonder why people are so god darn stupid.

Ouch, that sucks big time. Just out of curiosity, you said this PS3 controller looked genuine but was fake. Was it like the guts of a crappy third party controller mounted inside the shell of a PS3 sixaxis?
