Capcom and Squaresoft are two of the most famous game companies of all time, as each were at their primes in the late 90s and early 2000s. While Capcom made the survival horror genre popular with the release of Resident Evil in 1996, Square - everyone's favorite JRPG maker - decided to jump on that bandwagon as well, as they released the Parasite Eve series, their first and only survival horror series. Games from the Resident Evil and Parasite Eve franchises have all been recieved greatly by critics during this time, so how bout you decide which company made the better survival horror games. Thanks!

Resident Evil for horror

Parasite Eve for atmosphere

Altogether I like RE1-3 more.

Man.... that's a hard decision, too bad you dont have a neither were best or both were equally good vote button. I would vote in the both were equally good category.

These are easily 2 of my ALL TIME favorite Devs. in any category. Capcom and Square.... so much goodness... lol

Too bad Square didnt partner with Capcom instead of Enix :( SquareCapcom or CapcomSquare could have easily been better then the crap SquareEnix has thrown at us.

A revival to the BoF series, and fighting games with the ultimate casts if only it could have been.... Damn you Square and Enix... so much potential wasted... Hopefully this coming generation will breath new life into the company and they will get back to their roots.

Well. I like Silent Hill more for survival horror than Resident Evil which I find is little more than a zombie shooter.. First one came out in the 90's so I'm going with that. For this I'm going with Squaresoft because Parasite Eve had a more interesting plot.

If you like 90's horror check out SANITARIUM and HARVESTER. Both very good! Yeah!

Survival Horror - Capcom > Squaresoft

RPG - Squaresoft > Capcom

When it comes to survival horror, Capcom had Sweet Home, Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, etc. Squaresoft only had Parasite Eve.

Of the choices, Capcom. That was the golden age of the RE series.

Silent Hill came out in 1999, and with that one game Konami was the better developer for survival horror games though.

I am going w/ Capcom/RE for now but this does remind me I need to revisit Parasite Eve. Did square make any other survival horror games?

easily capcom. RE and SH were the height of the genre at the time.
