I usually stay away from special/limited editions because they usually only have some crappy DLC/add-on that's not worth the extra $$...
I do occasionally buy a collectors edition with a statue or figurine I want.

Great minds think alike?? :)
I dont buy many, but i always get Collectors. I was super excited about getting Collectors PC Dark Souls II, but after paying $100 dollars and opening it, i kinda regretted buying it. I installed game on Steam and put the Collectors Box in a tote in the building. Almost all of my Collector Boxes are stored away in a tote, only thing i leave out on display are the cases. I dont even like my Metal Cases i use to buy, they look way too out of place in my game collections that i keep on display.

Or you're telepathic and steal my ideas :P
I don't really buy special or collector's editions of games, I'm afraid. It's just the same game but with a few pointless extras.
I only go for it if it comes with a music CD otherwise I'm not interest at all with worthless figure or other crap ... and most of the time those games got rereleased with all the DLC later on. Which was the case for MK9.
Like who bought the Fallout 3 edition with the lunch box seriously it is quite useless.

Even with a statue :o?
@The_Last_Ride: sorry, man. I either don't have enough money or the extras don't appeal to me. I just want the game lol

No worries :P
Kind of hard to figure out which one is which because it seems to me that different companies will use those terms in different ways or even call their various bundles by entirely diferent names then those in the poll. There doesn't seem to be a set universal standard. Anyway I typically get the version that get's me the most extra game content possible including unreleased dlc, whatever version that may be.
i can't choose from those, since it's very situational that what those editions include. there's no definition of what any of those editions are supposed to include.
anyway, i usually go for the "middle-edition". not the largest box, but the tinier, cuter package, that would preferably include steelcase and an artbook, and that is closer to the actual price of the game. i don't need any extra trinkets (that are low-quality junk anyway, made in china), but i prefer the game to be in a more visually appealing package.
e: voted for Collector's Edition, since in case of Bloodborne, that was just how i described how i prefer it.

Yeah the extras are a waste of money to me I just want to play the game and that's all I want.
you would not want the extra stuff like a statue?

Nope having extras like a statue doesn't interest me at all lol.
If it's something like an RPG, I will usually buy the LTD edition for the bonus artwork and soundtrack. If it's a game like Borderlands, I will usually wait for the GOTY edition to come out for its DLC. I enjoy both BL games, but I'm not sure I would have enjoyed them as much without their great sets of DLC.

oh come on!
@The_Last_Ride: lol why does it even matter? Me and Sukraj don't care for the statues. There's nothing wrong with that.

I'm sorry I just don't have that sort of cash to blow on extras that I don't need lol.
I always go for the most standard edition possible. Once you start collecting you gotta have more to "complete" or "fill-out" your set/collection. So I stay away from even starting to get into such shenanigans.
