what is the purpose of region lock ???

Historically it was because TVs in different regions used different frequencies.

Now all TVs support 60Hz so the region lock is just to piss people off

It is so that companies can stagger their releases how they want to. With movies it makes more sense since a studio may still have a movie in theaters in one country when it is released on DVD in another. With games, well.... just make it a PAL vs NTSC thing and call it a night :)

i think those kinda regions are going to be vanished when HDTVs get more popular. atleasr that what i predict :idea:
