Thinking About Getting Back into PC Gaming: Rust

I haven't been playing too many PC games recently, but I'm thinking about getting back into it. A friend of mine told me about Rust, and it looks very good. I was wondering if anyone has an opinion whether I should buy it? Or if there's a better alternative? Thanks so much.
