The Official Tekken Tag Tournament 2 thread

I don't know if there are a lot of Tekken fans out here, but I've been a fan since the original and that was back in 1995, when it first came out on Playstation One. Many years later, sequels followed and a franchise was born, with a lot of fans enjoying the product as a whole. This is the sequel to a great fighting game called Tekken Tag Tournament, which was originally released on PS2 and one that I highly enjoyed, as I felt it pushed the series to a whole new level in areas such as visuals and gameplay. Today, they are striving to make the sequel better than what the original could have possibly offered, starting with sixty-six characters and a whole slew of modes to contend with. That and coupled with the facts that all DLC is going to be free and this could be very well possibly be a very strong contender for fighting game of the year. Sure, we got games like Street Fighter X Tekken and BB Continuum Shift Extend this year, but TTT2 could make a HUGE impression on a lot of people.

I'm not going to make this a long thread, like how I did in the past, but suffice to say, I'm excited for TTT2 and I'm wondering if any of you will be picking up the game as well? The goal is this thread is to also discuss anything and everything TTT2 and Tekken in general, I suppose.

So fire away, fans. Tuesday (September 11th, 2012) is coming very soon, so I hope you guys are just as excited as I am. If not, then don't worry about it and leave the thread alone so that fans can speak positively about the game and the series here. Thank you and enjoy this thread!

I've owned every Tekken ever made and when I invest some time into playing Im actually pretty damn good.

Also, the roster is HUGE.

I'm certainly looking forward to this one.

Considering the huge amount of characters, I have NO IDEA who I am going to be trying out...

Tekken Tag Tournament 2isn't a revolution for the series, but itisproof that meditation on a theme can produce some incredible results. This is Tekken's thesis statement, in a sense the complete distillation of everything the series ever was and everything it is now, which just so happens to be everything I could possibly want in a fighter. The ideas presented here are nothing new, but it doesn't feel like a rehash or cop out. Rather, it feels like Namco Bandai has slowly been evolving the same idea over the past 18 years, and this is the culmination of that effort. This is, without a doubt, the most polished, well-executed Tekken game ever made.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is worth the money. There is a ton of characters for you to try out, all of them having both new and old moves to try out, the stages look gorgeous, the gameplay is very exciting (although I have gotten my ass kicked by a ton of good online players that enjoy juggling me to death), and there's just a lot to do in this game. I would recommend it to anybody that enjoys Tekken very much! So far, my team is Baek and either Marshall or Forest Law.

Marshall Law is one of the coolest names in game history.

Playing with 4 players is so much fun. We had 10 people over last night and everyone had a blast trading off. It is so funny to have people screaming "Tag me in goddammit!!!" and freaking out.

The online is pretty solid. I'm going to hook my PS3 up via ethernet at our new house so that it will be even better. People don't know what to do with my Xiaoyu. I do most of my damage with Lei though.

Haven't played tekken since tekken 3 and I have to say this game is a soild one. For those on the fence about getting this game, here's some gameplay footage to maybe make your chocie a little easier.

It's just like any other Tekken game in terms of gameplay, nothing new about it. But there's a lot of characters to play as in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, including the Free DLC characters as well. Not sure when they come out though...

Any of you have tips on winning 10 rounds consecutively in Survival mode? I always get to round five or six, but then the computer juggles me to death and I'm forced to start all over again. This is due to the achievement that I'm trying to get for it. Any ideas?

I'm also trying to grind for developmental points for Combot so that I can get his moves.

Thanks man, but I got it earlier, thanks to Angel and Law. Was in the right mindset and was able to space out all the opponents and just used her lazer frequently. I finally lost at the fourteeth battle, but got the achievement anyway. :)

I have both PS3 and 360 versions. They both look identical to me as far as graphics go. Though the 360 version has noticible faster loading times. But the online competition is much better on PS3. I fight high level players much more frequently. On the 360 version for every good match I have, the next 8 matchers are against noobs lol.

Perhaps that because the majority of 360 Tekken players are more DOA fans

Im curious how the WiiU version will turn out. It may have the best graphics because it has the strongest GPU. And all the exclusive Nintendo outfits is a funny addition.
