I finally beat Yakuza 5 the other night (42 hours and 10.5% completion, lol) and I started a New Game Plus but I hit a bit of a snag. I'm running around as Kiryu and I noticed that I wasn't gaining XP. Turns out I had hit level 20 before I beat the game which appears to be a soft cap. You can bump the cap up to 25 by training with Sosuke, -but- from what I've read you can only get that final bit of training if you max out training in the first city and then you pay to have to relocate to Tokyo. That's fine, but it seems like that's only available in the final chapter, which means if I continue the New Game Plus to get to that point I have to play through almost the entire game without earning XP for Kiryu, which would be lame. The only other option is to reload my final save from before I beat the game, complete the training activities to unlock the cap, and then re-beat the game and create a new clear save.
Am I missing anything or are these my only two options?
