Why didn't we have a Castlevania competition, I want a free game. :P

dvader654

Sorry, I got sidetracked. I wanted to do it, but I wasn't able to pull it off on time. The competition was going to be a Moai Head Tresure Hunt for the original Castlevainia (NES).

This is what you would have been looking for.

I think it would have been a lot of fun but, I never got around to posting it.

Anyway, check your Wii mail  (Contra High Score winners included)

Oh great, another Sudoku game! :|

And c'mon Nintendo! Is that the best you can do with DSiWare? Where are the core games like Super Mario Advanced DSiWare or Tetris DS Express!?

But Castlevania is a must-have download! That and Nyx Quest sounds like a solid pair!

Castlevania is AWESOME! Pure old school fun with semi-branching paths and secrets galore. I made it up to the 3rd stage on my first play through. The stages seem pretty long for a Castlevania game of this s t y l e. I don't think the music is up to par with the rest of the series, I have to listen to it a bit more. I wonder if the Moai makes an appearance in this game?

Time to go treasure hunting :D

Oh and a warning to everyone, you cant save the game. I got to stage 5, stopped playing and when I came back to play I had to start from the beginning. So plan to finish the game in one sitting. dvader654

Yeah, I was afraid of that earlier, so I just kept playing and playing...

Be warned that there's only 6 stages, but when you consider that this is a remake of a Game Boy game and goes for $10, there's a lot of good game here. My only real complaint is that they don't have any of the original songs from Castlevania: The Adventure (which, from the footage I've seen, is about the only good thing about that game  ).

Many thanks to Spirit!

Castlevania Rebirth is fantastic indeed. The music isn't quite as good as others in the franchise and I don't like that picking up a new sub-item completely replaces the previous one without the opportunity to pick the old one back up again but the rest of the game is great. There looks to be a good deal of secret areas and alternate paths that will increase replayability. Another great addition to the "Rebirth" games and a very good value for $10.

CastleVania not being in widescreen is weaksauce.

Hell, even Pilotwings supports fulll screen.

Otherwise, great game.

Got to Stage 5 today but I quit because I continued. I want to run trough the game without continuing but I keep dying around Stage 3, on a good run I can get to Stage 4. I swear Stage 3 is like a whole new beast each time I play, so far I have gone through three different paths. The music is definitely growing on me and I love the mid boss Succubus with bullet hell bat attacks. This game is freaking awesome!

Has anyone spotted any Moai? I haven't found one yet, but then again I haven't really been looking.

@ Dvader and Archangel: Glad you guys enjoyed the game :D

Cool. Thanks.

So far my furthest point was up to the Frankenstein monster, can't recall what my score was. Excellent game that I'm really enjoying right now.
