ive been watching fan blogs and articles revolving around ps3 and 360 and i happen to come across some facts along the way. even though ps3 uses blu-ray as its standard format and can hold up to 25 gb single layer, 360 is still using dvd-9 as its format (dual layer 8.5 gb max). i was was tripping out thinking, how can 360 display in high definition when still using a dvd format and in the future, isnt that going to hinder them for producing longer games that still display in 720-1080p? is it true or am i just miss informed? and if that is the case, what good will the 360 machine be when high definition is standard in everyday gaming?
A tech wizard can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that using the DVD format makes hi-def output impossible. The DVDs are just storage devices, really; they have nothing to do with the video output. The only constraint is just that hi-def games require a larger amount of storage.
By the way, this should probably be in the Xbox 360 forum, or perhaps System Wars if you want to compare what the 360 has with the PS3. I'm gonna go ahead and lock this, but feel free to start it again there.
