POLL: "HOW MANY HOURS A DAY DO YOU SPEND GAMING?"

First of all, these polls are anonymous, so noone is gonna know it's you if you say you spend 24 hours/day online :P .

WIth that being said, I'm curious how many hours a day the average gamers spend playing their games.

Whether it be your favorite online PC game, a console game, an iPod game, solitaire on your cell phone, or even a browser based game on Facebook, tell us how much time you spend daily on your gaming.

Leave us a vote at the very least & a comment if you so choose regarding yours or others' gaming habits.

5-6 is the longest I can ever play any game. After that I get these annoying headaches. If it's really an addicting and fantastic game and it's the weekend It could last me 7-8 hours. But ever since college I have been only able to play 3 hours if I'm lucky.

On Saints Row 2 probably 10 hours, and on GTA: SA 11 hours, longest is GTA:SA.

I don't play everyday. I have little 'kicks'. All I really play is console games. On off days when I have nothing to do, I can easily play 10+ hours a day. But if theres school the next day, I only play maybe 1 hour a day.

Depends on the day. Monday and Wednesday I spend around 3-4 hours gaming, other days I spend 1-3 hours.

Hmmm for me probably around 2 -4 hours a day on weekdays (usually about 3) and on weekends probably like 6-8. Some weekends less like yesterday being Easter only played for 1-2 hours if that but...others probably around 6-8.

I would say on average 2-3 a day. Since I have a full time career it really cuts into the game time through the week. However weekends..yeah it is on. Sunday I started playing my Hardcore run of Mass Effect 2 at 1pm and did not stop until Monday morning around 2. Love that game so perfect, so perfect....

I think it's probably harder to judge these days how much time people are spending gaming considering all the mobile game time and browser based game time. Some folks just are not truly factoring in ALL the time they are actually distracting themselves with gaming, whether it be waiting for the bus on a portable or in a meeting on their BLACKBERRIES & iPhones.

And then, of course, there is getting folks to ADMIT how much they actually do that stuff heh.

I see it as unhealthy and rather pointless spending more than 2 hours on any game in one go. The perfect attention span and freshness of the

activity only lasts from 30 minutes to 1 hour. It goes downhill after that. You may stay up the whole day playing one game, but because you are

not doing anything else in between, the actual satisfaction you receive will be minimal compared to the potential. Its best to vary

things up, switch actions now and then.

Couldnt disagree more. The experience with a game, depends on many factors, not the least of which, is the person, the game, & the general outlook on how much of a "waste of time" entertainment value really is.

With this time of philosophy I could say spending more than 2 hours a day painting, scultping, or watching an entire season of one's favortie series on TV on DVD would offer less satisfaction simply because you never took a break.

When you have a passion for something and it is a quality experience, there is no amount of time you could spend that would degrade the experience, although the argument could be made to prioritize "hobbies" or activities.

I don't think an all encompassing time limit can truly be placed on an experience that you find enjoyable and gives you some sense of accomplishment though. Even if society says otherwise.

I agree and disagree with both ideas, so which is more relevant in the end?

It rounds up to that specific case, i suppose, not any generalization.

Well that's kinda what I was getting at. The fact that it was being generalized as a "waste" of time and that you were defining a "perfect attention span" as a specific number or amount, when every person, game, and experience has its own set of parameters based on the quality which is defined by each individual.

Wasn't trying to stir up controversy but at the same time I couldnt let such a "generalized" statement go unchallenged either.

In that regard, it would be more similar to asking someone how much time they spend on the internet a day, or how much television one watches in a day. Not really that out of line...

I intentionally wrote that to get feedback/arguments to the idea. Of all people..i used to sit from 6 am to 12 am with

nothing but a few drinks to go on..that was many years ago though.

Anywhere from half an hour to like 10-12 hours, if it's the weekend. I don't get burnt out on games at all. I just switch it up, or watch a Bluray from time to time. I have periods where I decide to have a social life and don't game for several days, and then I stay home for a weekend and log 20 hours of Bad Company 2. I'd say, then, on average... 2 hours per day.

Oh, and the longest I have ever played consecutively would be WoW on a weekend for like 20 hours. It happened more than once. :(

There are times where I don't turn on any of the consoles for weeks. Sometimes I buy games and they remain unopened for months.

It varies widely. Usually during the week its 0.5-2 hours per day. on weekends it's generally 2-10 hours, depending on what I have planned for the weekend.
