What missions/levels have you hated when you were playing a video game? I remember one mission in GTA Vice City where you had to fly an RC plane for Auntie Poulet. I had trouble beating that mission to the point I got the disc and bent it in half. I was twelve at the time.

prepare for a list! : (Disclaimer - My memory might be a little hazy as im typing while i think and most of the games are from my childhood. Also some just annoyed me rather than finding them difficult)

Sonic the Hedgehog - Labrinth Zone - Level 3 (i think ). could not work out how to stop the infinite loop and 7 year old me struggled with the boss and drowning. I used to hate the music too, although now its one of my favourites in the game

Sonic the hedgehog 2 - oil ocean zone. was just a mess

goldeneye - Control. Defending natalya was so boring/ a ballache.

ALTTP - Crystal 5. It required you to push a block down and then fall down a hole and there were barriers that you had to have up or down (or something like that). You had to be on the right side with the block you pushed down with the switches the right way to push onto a switch to hold a door open. I could never get it right! I used to go and do the castle 6 first because that gave you a stick that created bricks and you can push onto the switch, simple

OOT - Earth Temple. No idea why, the music just annoyed me, and if i lost my train of thought, i could easily forget where i was going.

MGS 2 - The fat man on skates with tnt..... just why?

Mario Kart (Snes) - Any donut plains tracks...

And more recent ones:

Halo 2 (or MCC) - level 2 legendary I think (might be 4 but its 2 in coop). Load of enemy snipers that kill in one hit and when one of you die you start from last checkpoint.

Football Manager - Pre season friendlies! get the assistant manager on that!

Guitar Hero 3 - Cult of personality on expert, could never do it and thats where my expert career ended.

Smash bros Wii U - Any stage that is so huge the games just dont seem to end. Final Destination ftw.

I struggled more than i thought tbh...

@pero2008: hahaha I use to rage smash my game discs as a kid also thank god I dont do that anymore because games are expensive.

On more recent'ish titles/ wasn't a fan with-

Monster Hunter 4G- Powerstone quests (they are just the worst) O_O

The Evil Within- Laura encounter in Chapter 10, on every difficulty this is a poorly and tediously structured puzzle section.

Shovel Knight- Flying Machine level is cheap, & nothing more. If you're going for a no-magic run, it's very annoying. Easily the toughest part of the game.

I remember playing Donkey Kong 64 when I was a kid and not being able to get the Rareware coin. You had to beat this arcade game from the 80s or something to get it. Maybe it was super hard or maybe I was just bad at video games back then, but I stopped playing the game because I could never get that coin.

Always hated the airship levels on mario bros 3. And pretty much any boss on any fighting game, like shao khan on mk or that green bastard (forgot his name) on the original killer instinct. The difficulty spike when you got to the boss was ridiculous, used to take me so long to beat them.

Oh god, I hated Sigma from Megaman X series. Me and my friends would sit for hours to beat the whole game, until him. We simply couldn't pass him.

Oh yeah, and the Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne mission where you had that caravan to pull to your base. That stuff was hardcore.

I'm currently going through the Clash in the Clouds dlc from Bioshock Infinite. That blue ribbon (challenge) achievement is the only one I'm missing. Getting those ribbons is becoming annoying. But I'm doing it to myself, so I shouldn't complain.

Unlocking the Kid in Super Meat Boy was also pretty excruciating.

I also remember being unable to complete the last little section of Medal Of Honor Allied Assault on the hardest difficulty, when you come out of the bunker and have to run to the train. I had to look up a walkthrough.

the first mission in deus ex. its not a very good opening to the game at all.

the sneaking around the fortress in wind waker. thankfully i have a set course i do which gets it out of the way pretty quickly.

Dark Souls isn't that tricky after a few hours of play. Only Blight Town is annoying, due to framerate drops.

I think I speak for everyone when I say THE WATER TEMPLE.

Also, most of the underground stuff in Dark Souls 1. Blighttown, The Depths, The Demon Ruins etc etc. All quite bad compared to the overground stuff, which is excellent.

Every escort mission in existence.

And one recently played quest that I've always hated is for the College in Skyrim where you have to kill the magic anomalies in Winterhold.

It doesn't matter what your approach is (this is on higher difficulties), they just never sit still and are especially a pain in the arse to stealth with arrows since you have to deal with the other idiots running around and constantly getting in your way.

I love, love, love Hotline Miami, but that one mission in the hospital where you can't get noticed is ridiculously out of place, boring and tedious. A small but important blemish on an otherwise stellar game.

Especially because of how she liked to jump in front of your bullets that you were trying to protect her with. I killed her way more than the enemies did.

Yeah, especially considering that simple NPC move/stop commands are not that hard to code. Just code a function to add a new node at the NPC position on its scripted path, and have it stop there until the player cancels it. Rainbow Six did that in 1998, but then again Goldeneye was made in 1996, pretty much the damn of AI technology.

Still, it would have saved us a LOT of grief.

Every mission in every GTA game that involves chasing someone down or being chased and having to escape. So, basically, every mission.

Though, I will say, the flying missions - especially the first one - in GTA: San Andreas were the worst. The planes control like ass to begin with, but then they make you fly all the way across the map while having to stay below radar where you can easily crash into bridges and trees, fly through their little ring, then turn around and fly all the way back - still staying below radar! - and land safely. I haven't rage quit a game since I was a child, and I'm not one to give up on a game even when it frustrates and annoys me, but that crap seriously tested my limits.

Also, every Escort/Protection mission in any game. Those are never fun.

@pero2008: i've re-played that fu*KING RC mission so much that i can actually do that again with no problem.. is it sad or awesome? Idk but that's the HARDEST GTA mission EVER period.. the planes&races from GTA SA doesn't even come close how hard this mission is.

ANY water based level from any Game its usually sh!t but the one that sticks in my mind is the one from DMC 1.. fu*K that mission.. awful first person under the water bullshit!

I'd put almost all of levels in SCV4.. fu*king cheap insta death traps EVERY FUC*King where which you can't see.. best Castlevania game my ass! its not that SCV4 is difficult or anything hell the game itself is easy as piss its just that there's so much bullshit Insta death&knock back combo that boils my piss to 180 degrees!

The "Turbo tunnel" from Battletoads.... just what kind of sadistic motherfu*kers are the NES game developers!? without save states this level IS IM-FU*KING-POSSIBLE.

Metal Slug 3.. THE LAST.. FU*KING... MISSION!

You think the the level's length is too LONG? wait till you realize how fu*king impossible this level is! Metal slug always has had a challenging difficulty but THIS mission is just the devs trolling the fans so hard!

When Metal Gear starts to recycle it's episode maps with extreme conditions, I hate them all, why they weakened their game like that made no sense to me and broke the flow of the games story.
