Me personally... still waiting. Anyone out there that would consider a certain game to be a flawless diamond in their eyes?

Your thoughts?

I waited 3 years for Heavy Rain and even bought my PS3 to play the game, and it still blew me away. Sadly, with the exception of the first part of the game, it went to slow and was boring, but in the end was needed to set the mood.

Not the perfect game, but the closest I've ever played.

The most flawless game I'ver ever played is Super Mario Galaxy. The only problem was that I didn't find it very fun.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Jazz Jackrabbit 2, and Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath come awfully close, though.

Diablo II came extremely close, until they took away dupes and made most weapons worse after version 1.10.

For me it was MGS4. I really have no way of describing how awesome that game was to me. MGS3 is a close second if it wasn't for the lame camouflage system.

Ace Combat 5 The Unsung Wars was a dream come true.

- Epic storyline

- Great symphonic music with lots of choirs.

- 40+ different aircraft.

- Flawless controls.

edit: I almost forgot

- varied types of missions like submarine hunt, escort, infiltration, you even got to shot a frikkin space station from the sky.

I'm still waiting for Nintendo to do a Virtual Boy Advance--VBA anyone? Sport/Goggle-like construction, joint pads or some way to detect limb motion, and the ability to "see" the outside landscape--If I went to a park and there was a hill, objects in the game would be rendered around such hill. So essentially the Super Mario game would be a person running and jumping around a park throwing fireballs at virtual goombahs, jumping on platforms, and generally looking like an idiot.

Never met a flawless game, I have a very uncommon taste, so I doubt I will ever see my perfect game...

I love Cyberpunk, and my ideal game would be sort of a mech between (Syndicate (both), Deus Ex, and Vampire the masquerade Bloodlines).

I like games that has themes, and points they want to make, and I like games that can get hard.

Id love to have freesom, not just in movement (like they have not) but in depth aswell, Id like to control my income in thegame, douing various things (working as a bouncer for a week or something like that, maybe do some cybercrime), Decide options for assaulting people/locations, and I would prefer if the option for dialogue and deception were as well implemented in the game as in one of my examples.

Id love that kind of game... an everraining huge city, with hauntingly neon lights reflecting on the piddles, there mixed with the rest of the worst of humanity, crime, arrogance, hate and apathy. Where the player themselves must decide thier humanity and what they consider wrong.

I really like games where human nature is a main theme, and plays a role on the player him/herself.

I still remember the First Syndicate game, where you were sent to kill a president during a parade, because she was against cybernetics... ah good stuff ^^

That kind of game jsut wont be made, media would be all over it, and it would appeal to very few people, due to the complexityand darkly hopeless wibeI think.

This line of thinking is very boring.

Anyways, to answer the question, yes. Sonic 3 and Knuckles.

For me i'd say Super Smash Bros. Melee came damn close. Never in my life did i think a fighting game could be so engrossing.

Pros:

-Extremely fun

-Best cast of characters around

-The best Music

-Memorable stages

-Multiple gametypes

-Newbies have a chance to win, yet you can get skilled enough to kill anyone

- Items are used well

- Customization for matches

-I believe the gamecube controller was perfectly suited for this game with the c-stick and all

Cons:

-No online in the gamecube era

-Few characters missings

Well, my perfect games are Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, for various reasons. They're both incredibly fun, tell a good story (MGS4 more than KH, I must admit), have a great atmosphere and characters that I just love (not love love, but you get the point). They're not perfect (MGS4 comes pretty close), but there is no perfect game anyway, so that doesn't really matter. I just really like the games.

I was hoping the new final fantasy game would of been perfect because I always wanted to play one of the new ones, I loved the old Snes games. I never wanted to drop money for a PS just for the games so I never played them. I was so excited the 360 got a FF game, then i found out it's nothing like the previous ones. Bleh I might buy it if I have 60 dollars to burn.

P.S. I still want an awesome new Oregon Trail or Kings Quest.

Can't say I have a perfect game but when I was younger I had a mad love for the pre-GBA Pokemon games and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater for PS1. those games to me were so good I could keep replaying them.

I am leaving my perfect games to be anonymous for reasons anyone can understand, but yes. I really love two games enough that I can't really say any improvements are needed. To people who would rather pick apart their favorites than admit they are as perfect as they ever will be, I'd say you should be more forgiving. If your favorites have something that is so wrong that they make you think they aren't perfect, then you should reconsider if they are some of your favorites. It is pessimistic to hold games to a perfect standard and always say they are below it.

The only reason I could think that someone would choose to not name their game is if they're ashamed, or embarrassed by them. However, if that's the case, can such games really be considered "perfect"?

My perfect game has already been made, 26 years ago.....Tetris. I tend towards the belief that the more complex something becomes, the potential for flaws increase and the notion of "perfection" becomes less and less attainable. Tetris' brilliance lies in its simplicity; it's the epitome of replayability, has great music, and is now portable. Alexey is a pure genius, and his game has come as close to the impossible goal of being perfect as any game has.

OK, I'll put my expectations from my perfect game here MY PERFECT GAME: 1. LOTS of customization and LOOOOTTTTSSSSS of items and equipment. ( like 2000+ ) 2. open-ended with LOTS to do ( anything you can think of as long as it doesn't get horribly violent ) and you must be able to create many different and interesting items with all of the hobbies, and there MUST be levels. and all hobbies must actively involve the player, not just have them watch the character do it. and the environment in which you walk around MUST have variety and never recycle things, it must ALL be original. 3. you can take the story MANY MANY different ways ( as in the story will more than likely never be the same thing twice ) 4. have many different styles of fighting, from FPS to RPG to turn-based. ( which MUST be optional. I dislike purely combat games with no equal alternatives. ) 5. living, breathing world where anything can happen ( not just something where they do generally the same things with each other over and over ) 6. Multiplayer capabilities ( opens up new levels of interaction and lots of hilarity, like launching cars into each other and flying halfway across a city like a ragdoll because of a nuclear explosion that happened because you piled up a whole bunch of cars and put a mega bomb on them ) 7. Your own COMPLETELY customizable house, where EVERYTHING has a purpose right down to having a secret compartment in the floor of your closet to keep stuff safe from burglers 8. XP and level system, where you get AP and can use it to upgrade skills and get the capabilities to use more weapons ( of which there must be a big variety. ) 9. Deep, rich, long storyline ( nothing shallow, and must be detailed. ) 10. basically, the ULTIMATE open ended game where there are absolutely NO glitches ( UNLESS they are funny and actually add to the game in humor and such, NOTHING annoying ) and has an RPG/FPS flare and spans across many time periods in a way where it doesn't feel segmented, but at the same time you don't have to experience the full stretch of time. ( or you can just add in a time machine, that works for me too =P ) and you are able to do anything you can imagine. even build the dancing banana from the peanut butter jelly song and end up driving it into the sun after blowing up an uninhabited planet and mining all the asteroids in an asteroid belt and knocking over a skyscraper ( of yea, the buildings can't be unbreakable, nothing can be unbreakable in the game. )

Why you should not write what the perfect game is (in a very detailed way that is). Like a game designer told me... It can be used by others, If you write a idea and some big company think "holy crap that is a great idea" it wont mather if you came up with the idea. They are making money from your idea and you cant do anything about it.

Nope and it probably never will be. My perfect game would be: - An RPG...missions would be structured more around Deus Ex/Fallout 1 & 2 type missions in which there would be numerous ways to accomplish the end goal based on stats and skills. - Have Bioware or Obsidian pen the story, characters and do the artwork. I'm leaning more towards Obsidian doing the characters and since they don't reuse archtypes like Bioware does (how many Carths do we have to see?) They can both pen the story and Bioware could do the artwork. - It would follow Bethesda RPG's open world structure...Don't know if this could be accomplished with a story heavy game but i'd like to see them take a whack at it. - It would take chances like Troika/Black Isles RPG's used to. Games by these developers weren't afraid to tackle drugs, sex, slavery, racial issues. - It would have heavy horror aspects from either the Cthulhu mythos or Earthdawn pen and paper rpgs. It could then use these backstories to enforce a sense of urgency in the game using possession/sanity meters so that we don't see another version of Oblivion's Kvatch cutscene 40 hours after someone stated that the player had to get there right away. - Easter Eggs like the original Fallouts. These games had so much hidden in them it's amazing. - Take the weapon idea from Fable III. That if your character does something incredible that the weapon you were using gets bonus powers and you can rename it then trade it. these would be from rare random encounters so that the internet can't spoil how to get them.

For me: 1) Star Wars Republic Commando - One of the few squad-based shooter games where the squad was actually useful. And when you went down they could revive you if they manage to survive the firefight. 2) God of War Series - I absolutely love everything about it. 3) Final Fantasy 8 - Looooove it!

If Bethesda could make a game like a Fallout 3 with the story action/adventure and rpg elements being they're main focus and have Infinity Ward handle the combat aspects of the game then yea...that would pretty much do it.
