What are some games that you've played that were completely awesome, but no one else seems to know about?

The game that I choose is Shatterhand. This game was very much like Mega Man, but he was so awesom he just punced the baddies to death. This game is long overdue for a sequal.

Shatterhand!

Rad Racer was pretty badass.

Speed Devils for the DC is pretty awesome, but I have yet to meet a person who even knows about it. The R-type series (2d shooter) for some reason is not well known by anyone I've ever met. Zombies Ate My Nieghbors too.

I've always loved the R-type series, lots of fun.

And Zombies Ate My neigbors was great too. I loled when I saw it at Blockbuster for the 1st time for the Snes

One of my favorite arcade games that took a LONG time to go to any console was Black Tiger.

Another might be Super Pinball: Behind the Mask on SNES. For the time, it was incredibly detailed 3D pinball. It was a few years before something as good as it hit even the PC.

Speaking of which, Hyper 3D Pinball is one of my favorite older PC pinball games.

To sum up:
Arcade - Black Tiger
SNES - Super Pinball: Behind the Mask
PC - Hyper 3d Pinball

I liked Mario Picross a lot. However, it sold so poorly in the U.S. that its sequel never reached our shores. :(

Luckily, we now have Picross DS, but I'd still like to play Mario Picross 2.

I really enjoyed the Monkey Island series. It's a shame that they started screwing with the animation. I really liked the first 2 in the series, but 3 and 4 were just such huge shifts for me.

How did he become younger in 3 and 4? that was just odd.

I like Mystery Quest a lot for the NES. On the NES there was Pro Wrestling and Advanced D&D: Heroes of the Lance, also great games.

Shatterhand is great like you said, and both Rad Racer games are classic.

On the SNES there is a game called Incantation and it's a great 2-D platformer that I've never even heard another person mention before. I don't even remember where it came from but it's a great game.

I've been playing Mischief Makers for the N64 lately. Road Avenger for the Sega Cd is awesome. I always try to mention Chu Chu Rocket, for the Dreamcast, because it is so amazing single and multiplayer. I will openly admit to loving Sega a little too much, but at least I know what I like.

I liked the Super Scope 6 on the SNES, it didn't get a lot of games, but it was fun to have this huge gun on your shoulders! And on the NES I liked Operation WOLF, which was a port of the Arcade game. I used to plug hours into that game, cuz it had the Uzi at the Arcade, and it was just fun...I'm surprized that I never hear about it in discussions on FPS gaming history.

Golden Axe Warrior for the Sega Mastersystem........It's called a Zelda 'clone' because it borrows/steals so much from the original Zelda, but it has much better graphics, and is an overall more engrossing game. It's too bad the SMS didn't sell better, or this game may have taken the place of Zelda in gaming history.

Great game, one of the best of the tales series...

But for me, one of the best games that went unnoticed is Dragon Force for the Saturn (Guardian Heroes comes in my mind also)

Me too! I still break mine out every once in a while. It's surprising how much fun it actually is.

I'll mention PLOK and Sim Ant for SNES. Both are fantastic.

I agree. In a really old issue they mention that a guy who wrote for Nintendo Power in the early 90's also wrote most of the dialogue for Evermore. At the time I remember thinking "An American writing RPGs? Pretty neat.".

(Shatterhand, huh? I've heard some music from that game, and it's pretty good. Also, someone mentioned Archon, which seems to be a souped-up version of chess. I'm going to play it someday, if only for the fact that it's from the same developers as Star Control II.) Rocket Jockey consumed many of my beloved childhood hours, letting me drag around those poor saps and tie them to random things. It could really use a remake/sequel, as there's no other game like it. Magic Carpet 2 was also one of those excellent titles that flew right under the radar for whatever reason. Finally, I'm debating with myself whether games like Star Control II, System Shock 2, and Deus Ex are too popular to be considered "forgotten". (Perhaps now would be a good time to play some really obscure games like Albion, Azrael's Tear, and Emerald Dragon to see if they also ought to be mentioned by me more often.)

Crystalis for the NES, way better than Zelda. They did a remake for the GBC, but they changed the music completely which was extremely saddening, as it had some of my favorite music of any game to date.

Same here. The story was good, but the dialogue screwed it up. Bring it back on the Virtual Console, damnit! And as of now, I nominate Faria. Imagine Zelda II, only no side scrolling parts. Still battles, though.

Mystical Ninja for the N64 was probably one of my favorite Zelda clones out there. It had great dungeons, but what separated it from the rest was it's sense of humor.

Lunar Legends for the GBA was a pretty good RPG, but unfortunately got lost in the shuffle.

Warlocked was a very good strategy game for the GBC. Yep, a strategy game for the GBC. The fact that it worked was surprising.
