God of War had really good boss fights but there were only 3

thats all i can really think of right now tho

God of War 1&II, All of the Metal Gear Solid games have some of the best boss fights of gaming history. Also Ninja Gaiden.Truth-slayer

There was an fps called Painkiller that came out a while back. Gameplay was a bit bland, you know, run & gun stuff where you shoot anything that moves, but the game had some really good level design (The last level in particular was amazing to look at!) and was extremely ambient in places... however the one thing the game had going for it above all else, the feature that was more or less the games main selling point:

Absolutely huge and dramatic boss battles. I'm talkin you dont even reach the boss's ankles sorta fights, or epic battles at the peak of a giant tower in the middle of a hellstorm sorta thing.

If that's yer thing, definently check out Painkiller. Nothing great overall, but when it came to boss battles that game sure knew how to do it right.

I would agree with the Metroid Prime series as each game has some really great boss fights. The Zelda games have good boss fights although if you are looking for difficulty, really none of the boss fights in Wind Waker or Twilight Princess are very difficult at all. The God of War games are a good call although GoW1 doesn't have many boss fights. Metal Gear Solid 3 is another.

If you want challenging boss fights, some off the top of my head -- try Ninja Gaiden as others have mentioned as well as Devil May Cry 3, Shinobi (PS2), Viewtiful Joe, Ikaruga, Gradius V, and God Hand. God Hand's boss fights will also give you a good laugh

You also might want to poke around some RPGs if that's your thing. Those games have some of the biggest and most epic boss battles, like the Final Fantasy games and more recently Persona 3 has a few.

Does SOTC count? If so then that, but Zelda OoT has some of the best bosses ever created in a game-:

2 words "Ninja Gaiden". Best game on xbox by far IMO . It is challenging and has great boss battles a must play for all gamers plus you can pick it up for around £7 or less. so thats about $12-14.

Most FF titles have at least 1 super powerful boss in there (optional usually)

FFVII - Ruby Weapon and Emerald Weapon

FFVIII - Ultima Weapon and Omega Weapon

FFIX - Ozma

FFX - Nemesis and Ultima Buster

FFXII - Yiazmat and Omega Mark XII

In MGS2 when you fight LOADS of Metal Gear Rays. That took me ages, but it was brilliant. Also GOW2 with the big statue thingy.hazahaxa

Argh. Frustration from an experience long gone, boils my blood. ARGGH I hated that boss battle. You know how much of a ***** it was fighting one of these things. Fight a dozen of them. One after the other..

Games that I´ve had played before with cool bosses are Devil May Cry,I like when you´ve to fight against a big eagle,don´t remember the name of the boss right now,or Rygar in that game you can fight against a few huge bosses several times.
