Fun but pointless games?

What are some entertaining, but purposeless games that you like. Mine are:

Serious Sam (A Croatian FPS in the same vein as Doom)

Painkiller (A Polish FPS which is almost as same as Serious Sam, both games are about killing things)

Onechanbara (A Japanese Hack and Slash game released on PS4 last summer where you play as sisters wearing bikinis and schoolgirl outfits and fight zombies and bosses.)

I'd go for Ratchet & Clank, Trackmania Turbo, any Mario game.. most Nintendo platformers in fact. But, really, most games are pointless aren't they? Primary objective for a game is to have fun.

Virtual Buddy, an old game back on Newgrounds. It was basically a Tomogachi that you could tase, drop bowling balls on, and hit with missiles. Among other things.

What do you mean by pointless?

I mean you're just going from one arena-type area to the next, with very little motivation other than a desire to keep the mayhem going...BUT IT IS SO SO MUCH FUN!

Yeah I thought the phrasing was interesting, and was tempted to make a comment like "are all video games pointless?" but whatever

I think what he meant is like no plot, no real incentive to go. I mean there are games out there that just dump you on a map and, depending on genre, say "Have fun shooting/slicing/building"

Most pointless genre I can think of are city builders. There is no real goal, you can't really "do it wrong". But it is also one of my most loved genres as well.

Ah yes, city builders, spent hours playing sim city 2000 on my PS1 back in 5th grade, great times.

However, probably the most pointless game I had fun with is... wait for it... Adventure Capitalist.

Well Sim City, Minecraft, The Sims or games like MMORPG

I think that games like Pac Man are still with an objective since they are score based game ...

The Hungry Horde on the PS Vita.

Pretty much any rogue like game setup like a top down adventure rpg
