I started playing good old New Vegas again, and thought I'd try out the DLCs. I'm at the Honest Hearts one...or was. I mean, I finished it in about half an hour :S

First had to deal with the dumb weight limit BS. Decided to finally get on with it and left a lot of stuff behind, just for the sake of actually getting to play the DLC. Arrived. Some prologue video played. Then everyone got killed a few seconds after arrival, making the got-to-know-all-the-mildly-interesting-characters-earlier completely pointless. Was all alone and had to defend myself. Killed everyone. Got a new objective, telling me to get a map of some kind. Ran across the map, fought some tribals, got the map, got told to go all the way back and exit the area, went back and left the area, some epilogue video played, shitload of XP, level up, end of DLC.

My question is, was that really it? Quite hollow...to say the least.

The Zion National Park is an open area, you can just focus on the main quest but that is really a waste. You can get a good four hours out of the DLC by exploring. It's not a great DLC pack by any means, but there is more than 30mins of content.

Yeah that was a pretty lame DLC.  The Roadrunner / Wile E. Coyote environments were kind of neat, but to get anywhere you could either wander around forever looking for a path or else just walk down the side of sheer cliffs which is pretty unrealistic and kind of breaks the immersion.  I spent a while poking around there but I found the whole story of it very uninteresting.  The worst part was probably at the end when I was supposed to go someplace but of course it was a mazelike series of dead end canyons and then the guy I was escorting told me I was taking too long so he was going on without me.  Hey f*** you buddy I'm doing the best I can

Old World Blues was pretty cool.  At least the environments were interesting.  The "characters" were played in such a comedic style and they prattled on for so effing long that it got pretty annoying though.

Then there was Dead Money.  I got an hour into that and just re-loaded a previous save from before I started the DLC.  That was awful.  Listening to that insane Dog / God guy spew nonsense for 10 minutes...got better things to do.

Oh, so basically, there is no main quest? Just a new area to explore? I mean, I didn't see any story. Right after I arrived, I was told to go across the map, then right back and literally leave Zion National Park. That was it.

The only story I could see was that group A was attacking group B, and you could choose to help group B's pacifist guy who just wanted to get his people to move, or else help their more warlike leader who wanted to kill group A.  I was going to help them move but I didn't realize I was supposed to be escorting the people (because they were nowhere to be seen when the mission started) so by the time I got to where I was supposed to go they had all apparently gotten themselves killed I guess.  Pacifist dude was mad.  I did it the other way too, killing group A.  Pacifist dude became deeply disillusioned because of my actions.  There's just no pleasing that guy.

The main questline (and sidequests too) are essentially cancelled out if you kill the character Follows-Chalk when you run into him after crossing the bridge.

Hah, my version of the story was, "there's a map at a very specific spot, go get it. Good, you got the map. Now you can leave the place. DO IT."

That's lame. After I killed my attackers, there was only an optional objective that remained. I didn't know where else to go, so I decided to follow the marker(didn't want to start wandering around aimlessly in an area I knew nothing about), which led me right across the bridge. And then a hostile dumbass named Follows-Chalk appeared indeed. Gave him exactly what he deserved. It's like the game entices you to screw up right at the start.

Under normal circumstances, Follows-Chalk shouldn't be hostile as he is one of the Honest Hearts companions. It's normally scripted that FC should kill a White Legs tribal that's shooting at you and then start talking to you to continue the main questline afterwards becoming your companion. Are you sure you didn't shoot him first? Maybe you encountered a bug or glitch.

Suppose so. To be honest, I found all NV DLCs terrible to say the least. Dead Money was the worst imo.

Yeah, you kind of killed one of the main characters, thus ridding of the questline entirely. It's about the standard length for a Fallout add-on if you actually play through it. The quests may only take some 4 hours to complete, but the area is of a decent size for exploration, and I probably spent about 8 hours total on the add-on. I for one enjoyed it, but I'm biased because I love Fallout.

I'm pretty sure I didn't shoot him. When I crossed the bridge, I got charged by Follows-Chalk with a melee weapon. I thought he was one of the attackers and decided to have a fair melee fight with him. And so it went.

I went straight to Lonesome Road after I failed Honest Hearts. Lonesome Road was pretty decent in my opinion. A nice change(linear).

Someone tell me where all the populated areas are in Zion National Park, so I can go and depopulate the place, and still get lots of XP and good stuff out of the DLC :P Thanks!!!

On the other side of that tribal area you probably massacred is another camp where The Burned Man and another tribe should be. Might as well discover and explore the locations on the way while you're at it.

It's not populated, but there's a cave at the very top of the map (Stone Bones Cave) that contains the Desert Ranger combat armor. Watch out for the traps!

It took me around four hours. I found it entertaining, as a matter of fact - not the strongest DLC (partly because I love NV's other DLC packs), but there were some interesting characters and I enjoyed getting the Ranger uniform from the "Father in the Cave" (the NCR Ranger armor set is easily my favorite in the series. Modern armors are usually lame, but...)
