It is MIT licensed and seems like a great way to help indie developers who make free or cheap games.

I was considering taking up game creating as a hobby making smaller games before a full indie game (like arcade game). The end goal will probably be an adventure or RPG game but I would probably have to wait for the engine to be out for about 5 years and have enough experience.

What are your thoughts on Godot, do you think it will enable independent or inspiring independent developers from around the world?

Never heard of it. But it sounds promising, great for folks new to the industry, startups, etc I Would imagine. Probably great for students working on a senior project or something along those lines.
