No, they don't buy PS1 games anymore. Also, they wouldn't buy it for $100 even if they did buy PS1 games. They aren't ebay...they wouldn't buy it for more than the retail value which is $50? or something. People sell it for $100+ because it's rare, not because it's worth that much.
Not a chance. They would low ball you huge. They would probably give you $5 - $10 for it, if anything at all. You should keep it anyway. You'll regret it you sell it.
i wish they dont even take games for systems released from 2000-1987 lol , that includes dreamcast lol , only xbox gc and ps2 games and games for newer consoles are still alowed to be traded in at gamestop , gba as well
No. And tbh they really shouldn't. The game is hardly rare at all. Beats me how it acquired a rep for being rare when it couldn't be further from truth.Articuno76its not that the game is actually that rare, its that the game is rarely found being sold, due to its high demand and low supply, its price is driven up and it was deemed rare by some ignorant people who dont understand economics...

No...not a chance. I recommend downing an energy drink to get through that Ebay process because gamestop won't pay you **** for that game.

Took the words right out of my mouth.
A game that had sales of nearly 10 million is NOT rare. Sorry, but it's just not. End of story.
Bring up Lunar and Lunar 2 (both complete w/ all extras intact) Valkyrie Profile (aka: VP: Lenneth) or Suikoden II, THEN we're talking 'rare' in the truest definition of the word.
Ticks me off as a collector / player of RPGs, how many eBay sellers like to pass that word 'rare' around like it's gone out of style when it comes to all RPGs across all consoles.
Wow. When I saw the title of this thread I thought "Is this guy a ****ing *****?". Gamestop is interested in making profits, not collecting games so they can store it on a shelf to show off to people. If Gamestop were to buy it off you for a $100 they would have to sell it back to the consumers at $110+ to make a profit (I doubt they would pay $100 to make a $10 profit either). And no one who goes to Gamestop is going to pay $110 for a PS1 game.
Like everyone stated gamestop no longer takes ps1 games. If you're too lazy to do ebay you can trade FF VII in for about $50 worth of points on the goozex game trading site and use the points to get another game. You get matched with a buyer and send it off in a bubble mailer.
I had extra copies of SMT Nocturne, SMT DDS and Ico and I traded them in there, because I was too lazy to do ebay.
If you're curious about the site there's a link in my sig.
Back when GameStop used to accept used PS games, they probably would've payed you $20 maximum for FF7. However, Internet hype over the false rarity of this game caused a huge e-price inflation. So, on websites like ebay, you can easily sell it for $50-$70 to some ignorant buyer.
I am waiting for this hype to finally end, because I want a copy of FF7 for myself.

There is absolutely no way they would give you $20 for FF7. I used to work there, I looked it up myself. It trades in for 3 dollars, sells for $1.40 new (because they never well get any in) and sells for about $14 used. Just won't happen. Sorry.
