Pretty sure there is no monsters. RDR has animals like wolves, buffalo, and coyotes. And if you get Undead Nightmare there is zombies and zombie animals.
Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare has mythical creatures  such as the 4 horses of the apppocalypse and in one of the missions you have to go to tall trees and find the sasquatches, i also believe there is a chupacobra that you can find and kill. after you have found all 4 horses and kill that chupacobra you can then get the Unicorn.Â
