MW2 comes out the day before Remeberance Day, during what's referred to as "Veterans Week."

Do you think the timing is offensive since we'll all be spending our day off on a war game, the day we're supposed to be saluting our veterans?

I think the timing is wrong, but honestly I wouldn't want to wait another week.
Just take a moment to salute our heros. Play the game, but don't forget to show some respect first.

Opinions?

I think they did it that day because it is the marine corps birthday.

November 11 is also "Veteran's Day" in the US... but I'm not sure if it's just the US. It's probably the same thing as Remeberance Day but with a different name. Call of Duty games have almost always come out in November so it might just be a coincidence. Idk...

I don't see how I could possibly be offended by a game coming out the day before Rememberance Day...

It's not as if people would have otherwise spent the day thinking about the veterans.

No, not at all. The game comes out the day before and what people do on the actual day is a choice that they make.

If you feel that games shouldn't be played on that day, don't play - companies are not here to hold your hand or be your moral compass

New releases come out on Tuesday, with the first or second Tuesday in November typically being the date major games get released. Not offensive.

Not at all. I will salute our veterans by shooting up some russian terrorists. But seriously, i don't, just take some time to remember people that gave their lives for us.

It's not just a day of remembrance in Canada- november 11th was first known as "Armistice Day" to mark the end of WWI- it now more generally represents all military personal from present to past. But I don't think it's offensive- the release of a simple video game won't keep people from remembering the significance of the day.

If it's not offensive at any other time of the year, then why should it be offensive just because it coincides with something that has some thematic ties?

11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. It is a holiday from teh Great War. Kind of sad how much it is just brushed off these days.
