Shooters:
Battlefield 2. (It's 2005, but it's still amazing) (It fits the definition of "best pc games". It's easily one of/the best online shooter you can buy)
Star Wars: Republic Commando (It's 2005 too, but it's still great)

STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl
STALKER: Clear Sky (Prequal) (Not as good)
STALKER: Call of Pripyat (From what I've heard, it's the most polished)

i find rpgs boring. shooters, action, games are my type

Just because no one has mentioned it yet, I'll toss in Freespace I and II. Although they may be old, they are both still excellent games, even by today's standards (imho).

As far as shooters go:

Crysis

STALKER Shadow of Chernobyland Call of Pripyat (Clear Sky too if you really like those)

Metro 2033

Other games:

Grand Theft Auto IV (poorly optimised, but still worth the trouble)

Age of Empires III

Red Faction Guerrilla

TrackMania Nations Forever (free Steam download)
