What kinds of games do you play? PC or Console? Any favorites?

I wonder if the Nintendo Wii is as popular with the older crowd as the commercials would lead you to believe.

I wonder why there aren't more 50+ gamers. Perhaps stigmas about gaming being childish? Technophobia? It seems that every once in a while you hear about a hardcore senior citizen gamer, but I wonder how many of theme are out there.

I had an ex GF that her and her dad and brother all played tons of Day of Defeat. I have also been to LAN parties that were ran by older guys. Not sure their age though but I say closer to 50 than 20 lol.

I'm 60 years old, and play mostly single player games, RPG's are my #1 choice but anything with a good story and at least 10 hours long!

I'm actually writing an article about older gamers for my college newspaper and am wondering if any of you who are an older gamer or know an older gamer could give me a quick interview, I would really appreciate it and it wouldn't take too long :)

My dad is 52 and games. He started playing Dungeons & Dragons with some of his college professors; he was also big on Risk and Axis & Allies. When I was little, he would spend hours playing this turn-based WWII strategy game online with his friends. I grew up watching him play games like DOOM, Alone in the Dark, and Ultima Underworld.

Over the years he stopped having the focus to finish game campaigns, and he only really played co-op or multiplayer games with my brother and I (which was often: family night usually meant Mario Kart, GoldenEye, and Halo).

He played a paladin in World of Warcraft for about 5 years but stopped having the time to raid 12 hours a week. Right now he switches between Civilization IV, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Left 4 Dead 2, and I've been trying to "train" him at Starcraft 2.

My grandpa still plays the Zelda 64 games. He's in his... late 60s, I think.

My dad is 50+ and he used to play games, but he doesn't anymore. I think he just got bored, or grew apart from them or something. Once in a blue moon he will have some sort of gaming rampage when a new game comes out of a series he used to love (mainly RPGs). I can see myself gaming for life... not only that, but I can see myself playing my favourite games for life, too. Even when (if) graphics ever get to the point of looking realistic, I can see myself going wayyy back to play games such as the early Tomb Raiders, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solids and whatnot :D. Not only are these games nostalgic to me now, but imagine in about 50 years time when they will be SUPER nostalgic... actually, that's quite a depressing thought lol :P.

My Gradfather doen't play much in the way of games, but when he does its usually Rockstar titles. He finds their style of humor to be right up his ally.

I once saw a kid try to convince his WWII vet grandfather to get some of the earlier Call of Duty games, not sure if that counts, or how the situation turned out:P

We grew up in the late 60's and early 70's playing but are not quite 50 just yet. Give us a chance to age;)

I did mention my mother in a earlier post but as for my, I'm nearly 40 and time permitting play most days either on the PS3 or on PC, gradually over recent years got more of a taste for FPS's also like some fighting games and RPG's, and on PC usually WOW.
