I'm interested to see which 5 games you're talking about.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to:
Keeping an eye on:
If only half of those games deliver, it'll be a great year.
Notice the OP hasn't bothered to post a rebuttal to the many clear and articulate counterpoints directed at ludicrous postulation.
I'm personally tired of the cheap and nasty cynicism and derision directed at this medium, usually championed by monosyllabic authors who are unable to formulate even a rudimentary rationale to justify their specious claims.
More than likely the OP played ten games, enjoyed five of them, and then predicated his ridiculous argument upon that weak foundation. Anybody who believes there were only five quality titles released in 2010 obviously didn't play many games that year.
2011 looks good to me:
ES V: Skrim
Pokemon Black
Dragon Quest VI
Dungeon Siege III
Diablo III
Dragon Age II
Tactics Ogre
Addendum:
I stumbled onto one of the OP's other threads and, among other things, here's what he wrote about Geist:
"The greatest multiplayer console FPS game I have ever played. Also one of the most innovative games to come out in the last five years. This game's unique gameplay is coupled with an amazing soundtrack, cutting edge graphics, fun multiplayer, an interesting story, and some scary horror moments. Sadly the game failed to take advantage of the GameCube's online adapters, and so the game didn't have online play. It was also one of the first (non-porno) games to feature female nudity. I'm still holding out for the rumored, yet extremely elusive, Geist 2."
Really? The best multiplayer console FPS you've played?
Have you even played a single other FPS? Ever?
I actually (briefly) owned Geist and there was nothing cutting edge about any aspect of the game, especially the graphics. Even by Cube standards the game looked rough and the gameplay was clunky, archaic, and rightfully maligned because the brief flits of innovation did nothing to mask the tedium of the core gameplay.
I bring this up because anyone who has the temerity to claim 2010 saw only quality five games, yet endorses banality like Geist, clearly isn't being consistent. Like Up In Flames inquired earlier, I'd like to know which games from 2010 the OP considered worthwhile.
So please, by all means, illuminate us.
I totally agree with Darkest, and for Skyrim, i hope that they'll do as they said, and not "blame" it like Oblivion (i mean that Oblivion was far less entertaining than Morrowind-my opinion). Anyway, it'll be they only normal RPG game to come out in the near future (except the sequel of the old classic, Diablo), because the gamers of nowadays mainlycare about FPS games. If i want to play an RPG, i must dig and old one up... if i look for a new one, i can't find anything. I like FPS games, but i miss the atmosphere of the RPGs, the feeling of adventuring in a fantasy world in the late hours... As Darkest said, game developers should stop caring about the graphics so much, andconcentrateon the gameplay (just look at minecraft, it's only in it'sbeta stage, and already has 3 million players!), and if they have done so, Dragon agewould be a good rpg game for eg.

Grammaton-Cleric
That's hilarious. On one hand one would think a guy that could enjoy crap like Geist would have no complaints about videogames since anything this side of Lair is better than Geist. On the other hand, since most games are so much better than Geist, perhaps his tastes reflects reversed standards as opposed to no standards, and playing quality games actually hurts him.
Perhaps Geist 2 would lure him away from knitting (he hasn't responded to anything so its only logical that he followed my suggestion and took up knitting). We can only hope.
I don't see how 2011 will be a bad year in gaming since there are quite a few games that I'm looking forward to getting. Dragon Age 2, Silent Hill Downpour, etc.

To be fair, I'd rather knit than play Geist.
2011 is arguably going to be one of the best gaming years ever. You've got:
Little Big Planet 2
Dead Space 2
Homefront
LA Noire
Killzone 3
Arkham City
Dragon Age 2
Deus EX:Human Revolution
Bulletstorm
Crysis 2
Rage
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Future Soldier
The Last Guardian
Forza 4
The Witcher 2
Portal 2
Infamous 2
Brink
Gears of War 3
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Uncharted 3
Mass Effect 3
Honestly, this year is ridiculously good.
This is going to be one of the best years since 2007 and 2004. Every major game I've wanted recently is coming this year.
Here's a question I have.
How can you already say that 2011 is a bad year in gaming when 2011 barely started as of this writing?
Anyway, it's not going to be a bad year for me, because this is what I'm looking forward to playing as they are released this year.
So do I think 2011 is going to be a bad year personally? Not really. It should be a fun year. In a way, if it does get to consoles, I'm also looking forward to the next update to Super Street Fighter IV (Arcade Edition), but lately, I've been burned out by Street Fighter, so we'll wait and see.
And I wouldn't be holding my breath for Tekken Vs Street Fighter or Street Fighter Vs Tekken anytime soon. I have a feeling both games won't be out until 2012 at the latest!
[QUOTE="turtlethetaffer"]Major releases are the ones that suck. You really shouldn't judge until you've played the games. Just because there aren't alot of major releases doesn't mean that there won't be good games. Who knows? Maybe there'll be a sleeper hit.

Oh, your one of those people...
You know how silly this is? I'll put it this way: Just because you are not looking forward to many games in the year 2011 does not make it a year of disappointment. Disappointment to you? Probably. Does your disappointment really concern the rest of us? Not one bit. The gaming industry cannot cater to your tastes 24/7/365. I am already looking forward to this year. We have Deus Ex Revolution, Marvel vs Capcom, Killzone 3, Uncharted 3 (does that come out this year?), Skyrim, Mass Effect 3, The Witcher 2, and that's about it going off the top of my head. Just goes to show that your "disappointment" is not universally shared.I was disappointed to see that less than 5 fantastic games were released last year. This year looks like more of the same stuff. When will games be developed for gamers, like they used to be. The day the general population stops caring about graphics and start caring about the gameplay and story of games, is the day gaming will rise to what it was in the 90s.
DarkestDestiny
This year will have several great games:
Dead Space 2
Conduit 2
Ace Combat: Assault Horizon
Bulletstorm
LA Noire
Mass Effect 3
Last year had great releases, too:
Mass Effect 2
Splinter Cell: Conviction
Red Dead Redemption
Alan Wake
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
Medal of Honor
Call of Duty: Black Ops
Halo: Reach
They said they were making skyrim since oblivion and managed to keep it a secreat for all this time. Also considering the fact there was an article about developing the next game before they finished fallout 3. i bet they do work on another fallout, they just dont want us to know yet.Skyrim is the game i will be awaiting the most...Mass Effect 3 and LA NOIR are the other two i am anticipating the most...Kinda sad that there is not another Fallout game..
EvilSelf
... LBP2
Killzone 3
BRINK
RAGE
inFAMOUS 2
The Last Guardian
LA Noire
Deux Ex: Human Revolution
Portal 2
Diablo 3 (maybe?)
Motorstorm: Apocalypse
Mass Effect 3
Uncharted 3
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
and also
Nintendo 3DS
Sony NGP
There are more games and new systems than you would ever need, and it's all in one year. Simply put, you are wrong.
