Happy 25th Anniversary Final Fantasy Series!

Wow! Final Fantasy Series is even older than most of you here. Share us your most memorable experiences with Final Fantasy. Which game is the best for you? Who are your most favorite characters? Any game you wish to get soon?

Oh, by the way, have you heard of the ULTIMATE FF COLLECTION SET?

Square Enix has pulled the veil off the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary Ultimate Box, a massive collection spanning most of the main series. Sadly, spin-off titles such as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles and Final Fantasy Tactics seem to be missing from this compilation, but all of the main series games to Final Fantasy XIII are present. It sounds like the perfect collection for die-hard Final Fantasy fans, but it's going to cost quite a bit of money if you want to take one home with you.

Final Fantasy Ultimate Box will cost ¥35,000 in Japan, which works out to right around $447. That's assuming that it even makes it to the United States, as at the moment, the Final Fantasy Ultimate Box is only confirmed for Japan. There's no word on if it will launch in other regions yet, but it wouldn't surprise us to hear that Squeenix wants to keep this Japan-only.

The first nine Final Fantasy titles will be offered on PS1 discs (with Final Fantasy VII through IX spanning four discs each) except for Final Fantasy III, which is included as a PSP game. Final Fantasy X, XI (Vana'diel Collection 2 to be specific) and XII are on PS2, and finally, we've got Final Fantasy XIII on PS3. It wouldn't be much of an "Ultimate Box" if it only included games though, so Square Enix has added a number of extras, including an anniversary video, an art collection dubbed "Crystal ArtWorks," a two-disc anniversary soundtrack, and a "mini replica of Amano FF 25th Anniversary visual."

It definitely isn't a bad collection, and it'll be hitting Japan on December 18. It will only be available on the Square Enix e-Shop, which reinforces the idea that this is a very limited release. If that's the case, then it isn't looking good for a US or European release, but Square Enix might just surprise us - it is Final Fantasys 25th Anniversary, after all. :)

I miss replaying Final Fantasy VII.

As much as I like Final Fantasy...I would not spend the money they're asking for this collection. I've played them all except for XIV. I'm going on 36 years old so the first one came out when I was around 10 or 11. I remember when it came out, I didn't even have a NES but I had a good friend who did & he had a friend who was into RPG's. I had no idea what an RPG was in those days. I actually think I saw them play Dragon Warrior first but FF appealed to me more because you can actually see your characters fighting on the same screen with the monsters. Since I didn't own a NES I didn't get to into FF. I owned a Sega Master System and my friend lend me Phantasy Star and that was my first interaction with RPG's where I wasn't just watching. Any ways, with the release of FFII (IV in the main series) on the SNES, I was hooked and never looked back.

Sorry, I've got you beat by 4 years :P I know I'm not as active as you, but I pop in every so often :)

I haven't played enough of the games to say which is my favorite. ( I've played VII, VIII, X, X-2, and XIII )

True :P Now if I can only find the time to beat VII, XIII, and to play and beat IX I'd be happy.

With the right amount of time and effort we can pull off anything. Part of the reason I hold MontyOum in such regard considering he single handedly created the Haloid and Dead Fantasy vids. Considering its one person and then the animation and sounds and just everything that went into it I can't help but be impressed and enjoy. 

That's an interesting fact I didn't know about FF1.
