.:: F1PU Predictions Championship 2013 ::.Welcome to the F1PU Predictions Championship for 2013. This is the eigth year of the competition and can hopefully build on the success of last year which was hotly contested right up to the final round, and Abu Dhabi providing the highest ever scoring round of the competition with 7 people breaking the previous season record. For those new to the competition - welcome aboard - take a minute to read through the rules below to understand how to compete. For those returning from past years please check the updates section as a few bits have changed for this year.Since finishing in Brazil in November Formula 1 has seen a lot of changes. HRT have dropped out due to lack of funds, and the short notice meant that no replacement team could be found - there are now only 11 teams in F1 and the grid has reduced to 22 cars. Valencia has also pulled out of hosting the European Grand Prix, and while there are still 20 races planned for this season, round 10 (July 19-21) has not yet confirmed where it will be held. A lot of drivers have moved around between teams, with Force India only confirming Adrian Sutil two days ago, and Marussia replacing Razia with Bianchi even before the winter testing is complete.tony205 became the first person to win the championship twice, and also the first to successfully defend the title, alongside previous winners wombat26, Redders1989, bloodling, mjk1 & Aloushi87, and now it's time to find out who will join the Hall of Fame for 2013.There have been some changes to rules and scoring system, so take a good look at the rules below and get ready - the season is almost upon us!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This is how the game is played:For each GP:- Each person selects 4 teams, each ranked 1-11 and the total must come to a MINIMUM of 25. Ranking is as follows:1 - Red Bull2 - Ferrari3 - McLaren4 - Lotus5 - Mercedes GP6 - Sauber7 - Force India8 - Williams9 - Scuderia Toro Rosso10 - Caterham11 - Marussia- Of those 4 teams, the player chooses one driver from each to score their points for them in the race (I.E. Williams, Toro Rosso, Caterham & Marussia, and the player chooses Maldonado, Ricciardo, Pic & Bianchi). Points will be discussed later on.- Extra points are available for correctly predicting who will have the fastest lap time in practice, the GP and who will hold pole. There are also points for who will be on the podium too. Every driver is available for selection, not just the drivers chosen earlier.- Players may also select the Best Constructor (the team with the best result in the weekend), the Worst Constructor (the worst overall result) and the first retirement.POINTS- For each constructor chosen (so both drivers from the 4 teams chosen), points are scored as follows:1st: +252nd: +183rd: +154th: +125th: +106th: +87th: +68th: +49th: +210th: +1All other cars running at finishing flag: +0.5Cars not running at finishing flag: -10Cars failing to qualify: -15Front row starting position on the grid: +5- For the 4 drivers chosen, points score as follows:1st: +252nd: +183rd: +154th: +125th: +106th: +87th: +68th: +49th: +210th: +1All other cars running at finishing flag: +0.5- For the 4 drivers chosen, for each position they move up the grid, they score an extra 3 points. E.G. a driver starts 18th and finishes 16th, the driver scores 6 points. No points are lost if they go backwards.- The last load of points are scored as follows:Correct Driver for fastest Practice lap: +3 ptsPole Position: +3 ptsFastest race lap: +3 ptsPodium finish: +3 ptsORCorrectly predicted podium place: +5 ptsIf all three in correct predicted places: +5 pts extra (making 20 in total)Best Constructor: +5 ptsWorst Constructor: +5 ptsFirst Retirement: +3 ptsHere is an example of a complete prediction that can be copied and edited for your own entry:EXAMPLE POSTTEAMS: Williams, Toro Rosso, Caterham, MarussiaDRIVERS: Maldonado, Ricciardo, Pic, BianchiFASTEST PRACTICE LAP: RosbergPOLE POSITION: BottasPODIUM: Vergne, Chilton, BottasFASTEST RACE LAP: HulkenburgBEST CONSTRUCTOR: MarussiaWORST CONSTRUCTOR: Red BullFIRST RETIREMENT: Grosjean-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------NEW RULES, CHANGES & CLARIFICATIONWith HRT dropping out and only leaving 11 teams it was necessary to tweak the points total for teams down from 27 to 25. This should continue to encourage a variety of team picks, and the large number of driver changes means it may take some time to work out who is the best driver for each team.New Prediction - First Retiree. Predict the first driver to retire from the race. Where two cars hit each other and both go out they will both be counted for this prediction. In the event of a first lap multi-car smash then again all cars taken out will be counted for this prediction. You also have the option to select 'none' which if correct will score 5 points - the higher award due to the rarity of the event - in 2012 every race had atleast one DNF.Worst Constructor - an existing prediction but with a clarification on determining the team. In the event of a team failing to qualify one or both cars this will be counted towards Worst Constructor. In previous seasons Worst Constructor was race day performance only, so DNQ were excluded. Also should two teams DNF both cars they will be equal worst constructor, so picking either of the two teams will get you the points. After that it becomes the team with the worst (greatest) combined finishing positions.Best Constructor will be the team that scores the most points in the race, inline with the real Constructor's Championship. In the event two teams finish with the same total, both will be regarded as Best Constructor.Wildcard entry - sometimes people forget to post or miss a race while on holiday, and after missing a race tend not to come back for future races. With this in mind if you miss a round your previous entry will be taken and used in place. This wild card ...

Tried to make my entry at half 2 on Friday, little did I know FP1 was already on, been a while since an early morning race :P At least Single Entry is still going somewhat smoothly.

Congratulations to Redders1989 who takes his fourth win of the season and 2 in a row. The gamble for Webber failed to pay off, but as the only person to pick Lotus their 2/3 finish more than made up for it.Avenger1324

I picked Lotus!?!?!? Sure you got the sheet right :lol:

oops - yes you did - it threw my eye as I scrolled across and everyone (bar you) had picked Red Bull as their top choice, Redders had Lotus on the second row.

Atleast it made it easy to input the data this round - Red Bull, Mercedes, Toro Rosso, Marussia - that combo was 6/10 entries, and why overall scores were so close together.

After a 2 month and 2 day absence the F1PU has re-appeared on the GameSpot forums.

Still quite a few pages that don't want to load - including the first page of this thread! - but hopefully something that will be sorted out in the not too distant future. It also looks like the new way quoting works (or doesn't) has screwed up several posts above.

As anyone who has been following Formula 1 will know, the 2013 season finished 2 weeks ago in Brazil. The downtime of the GameSpot unions meant that the discussion and predictions for the races in Japan, India, Abu Dhabi, USA and Brazil were only possible for those who used the backup union boards.

If the forum glitches are only temporary I will update the first couple of posts in this thread with the final results or I will repost them here later. For now they can be seen on the backup union boards for those who are registered there.
