DID YOU KNOW?: Ten years ago, Monza was host to the shortest full-distance GP ever - taking only 1 hour, 14 minutes and 19.838 seconds for Michael Schumacher to win.

POINTS OF DISCUSSION

  1. Ferrari had an upturn in performance last time out in Belgium - but it still wasn't enough to overcome Vettel. Can the Scuderia take their first win since the Spanish GP here?
  2. No Italian has won the Italian GP since Ludovico Scarfiotti in 1966, and no Italian has been on the podium since Giancarlo Fisichella in 2005. With no Italian on the grid this year, that will continue to be the case - who do you see as the next Italian F1 star?
  3. Martin Whitmarsh believes after McLaren's performance in Belgium that the team are unlikely to score a podium at all this year - do you think this is the case?
  4. How much pressure will Daniel Ricciardo be under to perform now he's confirmed for the Red Bull seat in 2014?
  5. Michael Schumacher has said he would be happy if Sebastian Vettel were to break his records of number of wins and World Championships - in a much more competitive field, how likely do you feel this could be?

1. No

2. Can't think of any up and coming Italian drivers right now.

3. Barring any races with a high retirement rate, I would have to agree with him.

4. Any pressure from Red Bull Racing has vanished, until next year anyway, but media pressure will be higher than ever.

5. "Much ore competitive field"? What's that? Seriously though, Vettel is an extremely talented and fast driver, but the car will play a big role in any future championship efforts.

Vettel finishes FP2 six tenths ahead of the field; says he's not happy with the car setup.

Standard.

If Vettel wins, It's game over. Red Bull could win all 3 of their weakest circuits and that will really worry all the other teams

I knew Alonso was not a changed man. He's just said this to the team in Italian:

"You're stupid, you're all stupid, you ruined my qualifying!"

Is this the thing he was saying in Italian after the team radio told him to keep up to the back of Massa as he was dropping behind (he then said something in Italian which sounded quite heated but the BBC did not translate it).

Lap 1: Paul di Resta crashes out...

Edit: Mario Andretti on NBCSN translating Ferrari's Team Radio. Pretty hype.
