HTML 5 player? YouTube version?

I can watch videos on my iPad, so I would guess there is some HTML5 video functionality already built in. I can definitely watch Giantbomb videos without installing Flash.

Specs:

Macbook Pro 17" late 2010
OSX Yosemite
Safari 8.0.4

@LuminousMoose: Should that read as "can't" I'm having a hard time understanding the bug in question.

Think there asking when is Gamespot gona support html5 player and stop using flash as the video player. Which the exact thing i want to know

I can play gamespot videos on my ipad. Since Apple doesn't support flash on ipads there is HTML5 video happening. On my Mac I am required to install flash player. This may be intended for some reason (not a bug). But flash video is annoying.

Giantbomb has a choice between progressive, streaming, HTML5 and youtube.

Giantbomb does but for me even when I disable flash HTML5 dont load there, i just get message about using browser with flash or is html5 compatible and I know cyberfox x64 support html5 cause test videos work in and so does youtube if i disable flash
