I currently deal locally via craigslist. Typically i can get $10-$15 under retail if i get it beat and listed within a week. I just have them pick it up at work or use the free shipping perk of the job i have.
Old games are a different matter. If its popular enough to still have a high asking price i generally list it on ebay since the smaller local market is too small to reliably unload stuff. If it is something that was just marginally popular i usually cant get rid of it regardless of how i try to sell.
In order for the marketplace to be an option for me, id have to be able to reliably sell week old games for $45-$50 which i honestly dont see happening with what i assume will be fairly rampant undercutting as tons of the same item get listed in that same span of time.
The undercutting was my biggest concern. Anything new enough to get rid of at a relatively high price will be listed in such quantities ( again, i am assuming ) that the saturation will bring the price down and after factoring in the cut would be a net loss over my current method. And again, anything older will just sit there either unpurchased or sold for so little that i would have been better off getting store credit somewhere.
My concerns might be unfounded of course as i have yet to see how it works. Is there already or do you have plans to enable a basement on the sale price? It would seem practical just wasnt sure.
